Turned off Live Killers after Brighton Rock was over, I don’t really like listening to music while I post, although I do playing my acoustic guitar while waiting for a new post.

Listening to Side Two of the “Yellow Submarine ” soundtrack…those are some pretty interesting orchestrations/arrangements! Especially on the three “Sea” tracks…Orchestral instruments mixed with Indian tambouras, reverbed tape-loops, even Wah-Wah guitars. Neat. I’ve said many times that one of my favourite things about this album is the thought that George Martin must’ve earned a lot of money in royalties for having his compositions included on a million-selling album…it’s nice to know that he contributed something of real substance. When you consider the financial windfall he forfeited by having too much integrity to claim co-writer credit on (for example) “Eleanor Rigby ” or “I Am The Walrus “…

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I never heard guitars on side 2 of Yellow Submarine , I might have to take a closer listen. I always assumed they either just used a session sitar player or used a tape loop on Sea Of Time but if there’s actual guitars, then maybe George did participate during these sessions.

I’m nearing the end of “The Long Road Out Of Eden”, and thus the end of my Eagles car chronology. The next artist I’m gonna binge in the car is “Weird Al” Yankovic, then maybe John Lennon .

The wahwah guitar is at the start of “Sea Of Monsters “, doubling a part played by (I think) marimba. I’m not sure if it’s George, probably some session musician. (And hey speaking of session guitarists, didja know Jimmy Page played on the instrumental “This Boy ” from the “Hard Day’s Night” soundtrack?? )

Listening to my recording of Run Of The Mill and wondering why I can’t seem to play it at a suitably slow tempo…

‘Black Dog’ – [the four symbol thingies] – Led Zeppelin

I’m not particularly on a Zepp kick, but I’m making myself listen to all their stuff anyway.

‘Black Dog’ – [untitled] – Led Zeppelin

Actually, according to the label on the vinyl itself, the album is called

the Four Symbols logo

and is often referred to Led Zeppelin IV, similar to how some people call The Beatles “The White Album ” and how some people call Metallica “The Black Album”, although unlike The Beatles or Metallica, there are pressings of the album that refer to it as this.

Folk Uke – a duo consisting of Amy Nelson (daughter of Willie) and Cathy Guthrie (daughter of Arlo, grand-daughter of Woody).

Just discovered them yesterday while I was feeling lousy. I laughed a lot.

Includes material and language of an adult nature. You know, just in case you might be offended, you have been warned.
