I’m not that much of a fan yet, but I’ll check it out. Maybe I’ll buy an album of theirs (or two (or seven)) in the near future…
DO IT. That’s an order.
If you want recommendations, just PM me! You of course need to hear The Dark Side Of The Moon if you haven’t already, and knowing your love of all things 60s, I highly recommend their first album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.

Yeah, I’m kinda relentless when it comes to turning people on to Pink Floyd (or the Beatles, for that matter)… and sadly, my enthusiasm often works.
So many people* could have had happy, productive, Floyd-free lives, had I never led them down the path of no return…
Speaking of which — I’m off to get my Floyd fix
*Don’t you believe any of that; I’m just spinning yarns. I am hopelessly addicted to Pink Floyd, though.

Along with so many artists (Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and more) I’ve tried listening to Pink Floyd, whole albums have been played, and I’ve never cared for it enough to return.

Bowie was like that with me for the longest time. One time I forcefed myself his discography and listened to it all the way through twice. There was a decent amount of unlistenable crap, but the good stuff resonated with me and stuck in my head.
I know plenty of people that can’t listen to Pink Floyd. They think it is uninteresting and gimicky. I know someone who claims David Gilmour is a terrible singer.
I assume people like this need help getting dressed in the morning.

Too much of Pink Floyd’s material seems like it goes on for an age without going anywhere, I got bored listening to ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’.

I agree with that to some extent. Much of Wish You Were Here bores me to tears. I think Meddle and Animals are their best records.

Now that I mentioned London Calling in another thread…I have to listen to this song
The song about being lost in a supermarket…..or being lost in general in life. But you know solely a supermarket idea is funnier.

I’ve officially become a Pink Floyd fan. Time to put on a playlist of all their songs and see which ones will be put into my personal playlist.
If you must, make sure they’re grouped by album. Pink Floyd should never be listened to out of context!

That’s the beauty of Floyd for me, but whatevs, some people never know.
I’m feeling a tad melancholy today, so I’m binge-listening to Pink Floyd to drown my (probably nonexistent) sorrows… right now it’s Meddle for the second time.

I’ve made a playlist of all of the songs on Anthology 1 -3 as well as Live At The BBC 1-3 that are not core cannon Beatles songs. I’m doing this to better familiarize myself with these songs.
