Well, oh baby, my hair’s on end about you…
I thought this was an interesting interview with Syd’s sister Rosemary from the brain damage site. Basically she says people thought he was insane because he didn’t want to be rich and famous.

Silly Girl, do you only listen to Beatles/solo and Pink Floyd on a constant shuffle?
Pretty much.
Actually, it’s a little more complicated than that. I mean, when I go to listen to music, that’s usually what I listen to– although not usually on shuffle, because, as a wise person once said,
(Please take a moment to appreciate the magnificent, glorious TRUTH of that statement)
but I do listen to other stuff, like Muse, or my mother’s Pandora radio station, whenever she happens to have it on (which has a nice distribution of classic/soft rock and pop, including those all-important lads and, thanks to my subtle manipulation, some PF too so it’s quite nice and I like it), or all those nice Windham Hill thingies that @sigh butterfly and I often rattle on about. I’m also– very slowly– dipping my toes into other, similar artists, like the Kinks (what I’ve heard of them, which is less than a dozen songs, they sound quite nice).
I guess it’s pretty safe to say that about 95% of my regular listening is those two bands and their affiliated solo artist career thingies. Is that bad?
I really only notice how limited my listening palate is when I talk with “normal” people, who have a dozen favourite bands at least, perhaps more. And I used to be a lot worse– there was this one year when I listened to nothing but The Sound Of Music soundtrack!
There ya go, now ya know

The Jokers. Latest band out of Liverpool. Okay, they may not be the latest, but they are from the area. This particular track may not be what you’re expecting, but it’s in my wheelhouse so it’s getting lots of play and if you check out their website, all of their stuff has .40 second samples.

Grateful Dead — Dave’s Picks Vol 19 1/23/70 Honolulu
These DaP things seem to show up in my mailbox every three months or so, always a pleasant surprise (well, a surprise if I don’t notice the shipping notification in my email box, as was the case this time)!
This is transitional Dead, kind of segueing from primal Dead to classic 70’s Dead — the Workingman’s Dead/American Beauty songwriting explosion is going on, and these songs start showing up in the live sets, but you’ve still got a heavy dose of Pigpen blues numbers, including a properly salacious 38-minute Turn on Your Love Light in this show. And an oddity, a reminder that these recordings are soundboard tapes that were never intended for release…in this case, a severely truncated Casey Jones, lasting all of about a minute and a half, as the rest of the song is missing from the tape.
You can’t buy this in stores, folks, and you’ll have to settle for aftermarket prices at this point if you want to own a physical copy — numbered, limited edition, the vast majority of which are sold through subscription. If you want to order Dave’s Picks a la carte, you need to act as soon as they are announced on the Dead.net website, since they usually sell out within a few days of the announcement. Not that y’all are itching to do that, I’m sure. If you were, you’d already know this!

… and as I’m viewing this page, guess which song comes on? Track the 5th, of course
So fab that these little coincidences should happen, and on my favourite song too!

Fun fact: Sir Walter Raleigh has not listened to Revolver in nearly six months. Tonight, (With A Little Help From My Friends ) i’ll be breaking the fast. I am very excited. The material is going to be fresh, yet so very familiar. The closer the time gets, the more worthwhile the sacrifice seems.

@owenladner that is pretty freaky! Seems like everybody on the forum is listening to Revolver today. For some reason, I’ve a hankering for some Jimi Hendrix, so I’m gonna go listen to that.
