I’m listening to Living in the Material World currently. Don’t let me wait too long is my favorite song off of the album. I’m sure it would be a classic if he’d written in with the Beatles.

Indeed, ’tis a good one! I do love that album– the production is fabulously clean and spot-on everywhere– and it’s got some damn fine songs. A worthy follow-up to the absurdly brilliant All Things Must Pass , in my opinion.
Currently listening to Abbey Road (Here Comes The Sun ); about to spin Atom Heart Mother again, just because I can

Speaking of Jimmy Page, for some reason it took me a couple of weeks to listen to a friend’s recommendation of this video. Heart performs Stairway to Heaven.
Absolutely fantastic. Jason Bonham on drums

Hindu Love Gods — Hindu Love Gods
Prince’s passing reminded me of this album from 1990 or so. Hindu Love Gods was an REM side project: in this case (their only released album), the band consisted of REM minus Michael Stipe plus Warren Zevon. It’s a loose (drunken late night sessions?), rocking set of mostly blues covers — think “Walking Blues,” “Mannish Boy,” “Wang Dang Doodle.”
The Prince connection? A raucous cover of one of my favorite Prince songs, “Raspberry Beret.”
She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her
RIP Prince. And Zevon too…

Heorge Garrison – All Things Must Pass
(It’s been too long, and after making the lads play all these Harrisongs, I had to listen to it. Plus it’s grey and rainy today, and I always get in an ATMPish mood on rainy days, and yes, I did listen to Blow Away on repeat.)

You can’t beat some Cream (no baking pun intended…maybe) on a Saturday evening.
Great band.
Me, currently listening to:
‘Les Trois Cloches’- Jo Lemaire
Ce soir, je me suis un peu francaise.
I have my written French end-of-semester exam on Tuesday so I can count listening to French music as study….right, right?!?!
Edit: Now it’s ‘Alexandrie Alexandra’ by the wonderful Claude Francois. I always end up back on his cheesy music whenever I go hunting for French… I don’t really know why…
Anyways, if any of ye go to a French wedding, have this dance ready because it will inevitably be played sometime during the evening (probably when everyone is a bit too tipsy).
He was the first big French singer to have black back-up dancers in his videos, which is great so good on him.
He also had one of the saddest but still quite funny (sorry Cloclo) deaths.
He was in the shower and he saw that the light fixture wasn’t straight (you can see where this is going), being the perfectionist that he was….he stretched out his wet hand to fix it….and got electrocuted.
He also covered a lot of Beatles’ songs in French so there’s a forum connection
Also for @Expert Textpert he sang a song called ‘Parce’que Je T’aime Mon Enfant’, which Elvis covered in English as ‘My Boy’.
And now you all know a bit more about one of France’s most beloved artists.

Just found this and, while not hugely different from the album version, ’tis still gorgeous (and evidently I’m not the only one who hums along with the guitar parts):
