A whole lot of classical guitar – including Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.
A lot of the CD is indistinguishable from pleasant acoustic guitar – blurring the boundaries of what is classical imho.

My new drum machineWhat model is it?
It’s just an Alesis SR-16, but I’ve never actually owned a drum machine, so I’m having fun with it. I’m not too worried about the sounds on it which are ok, its more about using it to prototype songs and output to MIDI so i can change the sounds to whatever I like.

One of my favourite songs by George. I don’t know why, I guess it’s the simplicity of it.

Silly Girl & Sigh Butterfly for Will Ackerman appreciation club
I thought you’d know of him, @sigh butterfly. I have a couple of his albums– Passage is my favourite.
Oh yes @Beatlebug , I am a big fan. In in the early 90s there was an article about the Windham Hill studios that were just up the road from where I lived. The article discussed the extraordinary recording techniques they used such as multiple microphones placed around the artist. I also remember the article talked about how much time was spent perfectly tuning the instruments. It sounded pretty cool so I went to the record store and bought a retrospective collection named Windham Hill: The First 10 Years. The very first song was Bricklayer’s Beautiful Daughter. I also heard George Winston (Colors/Dance from Autumn) for the first time that day. I’ve been hooked ever sense . Btw-I’m seeing George this weekend in a tiny venue-less than 400 seats. If possible I’ll post some pics 🙂

Means a lot to me following my dad’s passing. The most cheerful song about being depressed and unhappy ever to exist.

Love both of those songs dearly– my lovely Silly Dad, who mostly shares my taste in music, always insists that ‘The Bricklayer’s Beautiful Daughter’ refers to me and every time autumn rolls round, he and I have a grand First Listening to Autumn to mark the season, and when those fabulous notes ring out I generally can’t suppress a squeal– I get high just thinking about it. We try to keep the various seasonal albums sacred to their respective seasons– they’re more powerful that way.
While I amn’t as big a fan of Mr Ackerman as I am of Mr Winston, I do have a great fondness for Passage, as you may have inferred from the number of times I’ve posted that in this thread (as it happens, I am listening to it now) whereas Silly Dad favours Imaginary Roads.

Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful post @Beatlebug . I know you’ll understand this – I can hear the music in my head as I’m reading your words which is a very pleasant feeling. My daughter and I have some similar traditions with this and other music and artists. The songs have particular significance for certain events or times of year. One in particular, every Christmas morning she plays Carol of the Bells while we enjoy coffee or cocoa and get ready to open presents. She learned to play it when she was 7, so this was the 15th year .

An oldie but … etc
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by I Musici with Michelucci on the violin.
I had to listen to something catchy after listening to some 12-tone music by Webern and Schoenberg.
The 12-tone is the equivalent of modern art in a gallery, the Vivaldi is more like a Leonardo painting.
