Listened to Don Juan and the Four Last Songs; the latter nicely performed and quite moving:Great compilation. Alpensinfonie is amazing.
Cheers. It (the Alpine) is one of the ones I actually intended to bring when I moved house but managed to lose in the shuffle – so I was very happy to pick this set up on ebay at a great price. The other pieces are great as well of course.

The Choral Fantasy from this:
It’s absolutely breathtaking.
If you haven’t heard it, or haven’t heard a good version of it – try this one if you can find it. It’s a perfect classical “sampler” piece for anyone wondering if they might like to try some classical music. It has elements of a piano sonata, a piano concerto, a symphony and a choral piece. Imagine the final movement of the 9th symphony on steroids with a piano thrown in for good measure.
