I’m trying out Google Play’s Beatles radio channel. It’s interesting so far, except for one thing…
THEY HAVEN’T PLAYED A SINGLE BEATLES SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s all been post-Fab John/Paul, the Kinks, Orbison, Pink Floyd…

Heard half as I had to go out but enjoyed what I got thru. I’m not an individual who can go into how the horns stirred up feeling of whatever. Just enjoying what u hear.
Listened to Rossini’s seven minute Barber of Seville ( not the whole opera thingy). I’m a heathen. I think the Beatles added to it in a positive way.
Currently blasting out Rossini’s ‘Semiramide’ which is fabulous. All the crashing and tunes coming out of everywhere followed by moments of quiet to help you recover. Like being on a rollercoaster for the first time. It’s great hearing new music go in directions you never expect.

@Beatlebug Some channels suck because they can only play 4 songs per group in every hour so there isn’t a copyright infringement. (Which is why 24/7 Beatles TuneIn is a slice of heaven or chocolate cake in a bag.)
@trcanberra A bit off topic, but how did you get into classical music? I’ve been playing piano pieces my whole life and honestly the only consistent composer I’ve heard who really makes me feel anything is Chopin and possibly Beethoven. It’s ridiculous that I still don’t connect with it or understand it. Maybe it’s an instrumental thing because I enjoy singing some of the Italian voice pieces. Perhaps you have magical powers that will tell me what I’ve been missing out on….
To stay on topic, I’m listening to “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” and now “When You Love a Woman ” on my Pandora station. 🙂

Sounds sensational. Definitely all about the enjoyment and new discoveries for me as well!

I suspect that what got me into it was a personal reaction @KaleidoscopeMusic. I may have mentioned this elsewhere so apologies in advance to those who may have seen it before.
I had been consciously avoiding Classical due to preconceptions that it wasn’t “cool” enough and being forced to study it in school. At the time I had been collecting one of those weekly ‘partwork’ magazines – on Art – and when it ended I looked around the newsagent just in case there was anything interesting about for me to get my weekly fix of newness. They had Volume 1 of a collection called ‘The Great Composers’ at a special introductory price so I thought “Why not, it’s cheap enough”. It was Beethoven Symphony No 5 conducted by Klemperer. It just blew me away. So I bought issue 2, which from (hazy) memory had a Brahms symphony on it – same reaction.
So, to cut this short, I subscribed for around 2 years and never looked back – I really got into it. And bought lots of other CDs. The magazines were a great introduction to the lives and times of the composers, their works, and appreciating the attached cover CDs. I thought I had got over my obsession until giving half of them away when I moved house left me feeling a bit empty – hence the recent purchasing binge. Sorry, it’s probably not that magical a tale 😉

I like that song @natureaker . My daughter makes mix CDs to listen on the long drive to her University. This one always reminds me of the windows down, warm wind blowing, sun setting, and the music cranked up loud . Guess what, at our company Christmas party some of the 20 something ladies danced to Marina and The Diamonds “I Am Not A Robot”. Sounded good and they were pretty impressed I knew who she was – thanks to you 😉

Well, since you suggested it…
I tried humming the guitar bits and I found that there wasn’t even enough time for the first four notes after ‘it’s all right’; I suspect that it was edited so that there wouldn’t be great long stretches of silence.
