Silly Girl sang
I’m washing my brain.
Little Girl insisted, and how could I say no?
(Anyway, ’tis only fair as I chose Rubber Soul and we have a rule that we must always take turns choosing records. Prevents a lot of arguments in the vein of ‘Let’s do Abbey Road . No! I’m feeling Revolvery. But I wanna do Best Of Dark Horse !’)

I’ve been listening to way too much 70’s prog rock recently. King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, etc. right now though, I’m listening to Misfire by Queen, which was the first Queen song written by John Deacon.

@trcanberra I don’t listen to much classical, but people tell me I should. Just about the only classical I usually listen to is video game music that’s been fully orchestrated, if that even counts…

@limitlessundyinglove I went many many years not listening to any classical and when I started to get into it I kind of regretted all of the missed time. I began with a series called “The Great Composers” that had a cover disk on it each month and included the biographies of the composers, historical context and a listening guide to the music on the disc. It was a great way to get started.
Speaking of game music – I went to the Sydney Opera House a couple of years back with my kids and we watched an orchestral presentation of the music from the Final Fantasy games with video clips shown on a large screen behind the orchestra – it was brilliant.
If you want to try some; the popular works are worth a listen to see if any of it appeals – things like Beethoven’s 5th, Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons and so on.

Never knew that, actually. I might have to listen to that song later, especially since I’m on a bit of a Queen kick myself
And now, I’m listening to A Kind Of Magic, by that artist mentioned throughout this post

That’s close to being one of my favourite songs ever.

@natureaker
Yeah Misfire is pretty good, but too short. Sheer Heart Attack is just one of those albums where every song is either a bit long or a bit short. And A Kind Of Magic is good too, though it comes from my least favorite Queen album, barring Flash Gordon. Most people will tell you that Hot Space is the worst, but at least HS knows exactly what it is; a dance album. AKOM is sort of the soundtrack to Highlander, and sort of it’s own thingy. Not to say AKOM is bad at all, it’s great, but I think it kinda lacks focus and is Queen’s weakest collection of songs overall.
And I probably should listen to more classical, I think I have some on vinyl. Also I have this weird Ray Manzarek Carmina Burana album that I should probably listen too.
