David Bowie’s “Heathen” which I never sat down and listened to properly, and I’m kind of glad I didn’t at the time because its connections with 9/11 are pretty depressing. I didn’t know he’d covered a Pixies song (the harrowing Cactus) but the one that really gets me is Everyone says Hi.
And then I listened to “Out Of The Blue ” by ELO and I felt much better. Two albums, emotional whiplash. I love The Whale, some proper old-skool analog synth in that.

You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away
First time I’ve heard this in months since YouTube decided to block most of their music. Totally forgot how amazing this song was

Disturbed’s cover of The Sound of Silence- I adore the original I think it’s great but I love this version- so much power, it’s fab. I’ve probably listened to about 10 times over the past 2 days. They are a heavy metal band so I think it’s great that they did this kind of traditionally soft- Simon & Garfunkel tune.

TTS of part one of Shelby Foote’s history of the American civil war. Interesting point of view of Lincoln vs Davies.

Rolling Stone’s 199th greatest album of all time.
Trying Your Luck just ended. Last song on the album: Take It Or Leave It.
I think I might listen to the 500 greatest albums of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine in reverse order. It’ll give me an opportunity to listen to some new music, see what I know, give some artists a chance that I otherwise wouldn’t.
See sometimes good ideas come from PWT!

Giving this a first listen:
Still not too sure how much I like it. 5 tracks in, and definitely not what I was expecting
Most of it is the soundtrack to Highlander, bizarrely enough.
And that was enough to put Queen back on my playlist, rocking out to Now I’m Here OOOOO (we need a paul/george OOOO smiley).
