Sun King sighed tearfully
Silly Girl called through a headful of song
<snip>
Here is a demo made by John Lennon not so long before his death. Written on the tape, in John’s handwriting, was “For Paul”.
Yeah, I know, the title… but it’s a beautiful song.
Aw well that has made me sad now. Poor John.
Same here. That’s the suckiest thing with sudden death– any death really, but unexpected assassination especially– is all the unfinished things that will forever remain so. <snif> I hope Paul has heard it.

The Beatles recorded a version of it during the ’94-’95 reunion sessions, so of course Paul has heard it.

Baked right now and listening to this. Perfection
Thanks for that (it’s 4:20 here too! ) I wish I knew the source of that one performance with the minimal lighting (and turtlenecks?) and shadows. Surely someone here can identify it…
Now listening to Beethoven’s Violin Concero Concerto (featuring Isaac Stern and (looks around) the New York Philharmonic conducted by Daniel Barenboim.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Yeah, that booklet’s great. The LP’s so big and sprawling that I’ve played regularly yet still never given it as much attention as it deserves, kinda like ATMP – they’re both just a tiring listen.

Was listening to Barenboim play Beethoven sonatas, now moved on to 1979 female Ohio-style punk-funk.

Well, I recently acquired my first pair of earbuds (I know, I know, I’m way too old to not have had earbuds, what are you gonna do), so lately I’ve been into blasting whatever I feel like while using the earbuds. For some reason it’s mostly been either Beatles, The Dark Side of the Moon, or all my music on shuffle (and it’s a lot of music, and quite diverse, like it might go Beatles – Arcade Fire – Mozart – Beatles – Beatles – OneRepublic – Stevie Wonder – Beatles – Pink Floyd – John Lennon etc.). But right now… just the TV in the other room.

I have it Live on a DVD as well, and a pretty good show it is too.

I haven’t seen the complete ’79 film in ages (it’s on youtube all broken up) but I’ll bet that it’s still the best rock-album-inspired movie ever made. (Not a whole lot of competition there.) Great franchise all around, Pete!
Oh, and I’m back to Ludwig Van again now.
