Listening to Noel Gallagher’s lovely new album that leaked between Friday night and Saturday morning. It’s AMAZING. I don’t know what I was expecting, but not this. It’s so different from what he has done before.@Linde Yes! I was just about to post about it then. SO good, easily the best thing he’s done since Morning Glory in my opinion.
The jazzy influences on Riverman and the Right Stuff are otherworldly!
Riverman is amazing! I don’t like saxophones, but it really works on here. And that guitarsolo is fantastic. That one and The Dying Of The Light are definitely my favourites of the album. The Dying Of The Light ended up so beautiful! The only one I don’t like that much is The Mexican, the rest is just great. Lyrically it’s an improvement too.

Is Riverman original or is it a cover? My favorite Nick Drake song is called Riverman.parlance
It’s an original. He would never put a cover on an album. He’s been bragging about that one for months
I believe Paul Weller has a song called Riverman as well.
Cool. Another musician I love, David Sylvian, has a song with that name so I guess it’s a really popular theme.

Yeah it really is an incredible album. I liked HFB but this is far stronger and much more interesting. Good to see the Chief in top songwriting form, he’s in a purple patch right now and long may it continue.

Yes. HFB was great, but too safe. Plus most of it were Oasis leftovers. This one gets better reviews too. Not that that’s always saying something though.
Anyway, listening to Paranoid Android by Radiohead right now.

Yeah, I imagine that Mozart Complete thing of yours alone gives you a pretty good head start! (My collection’s maybe 1.5% classical, one year after I started actively listening to the stuff) (Now listening to lvb’s second piano sonata as played by Bernard Roberts btw)

Nice.
The Mozart capped it off really. I already had about 60 of his CDs, plus a significant collection of Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Mahler and Wagner. Along with 2-300 other classical CDs.

Saw this band playing in Leeds last week. Did a really good Ian Brown/Oasis mashup and played a load of requests for me and my girlfriend. We were only going to stay for one drink!
