I adore the way he sings the word “Tennessee”.

Rebel Rebel – David Bowie.

It’s such a catchy song.

I’m currently listening to this a lot. It’s got to be the catchiest riff in history.

Anyway, what I came here to say is that I’ve been listening to The Protomen a lot. They’re a band that has released two rock operas very loosely based on the Megaman video games. Act I: The Protomen is kind of a punkish rock sound, while Act II: Father of Death is a  more ’80s stadium rock, and in some places very orchestral sound. I prefer Act II (in fact, it’s my 5th favorite album of all time), but Act I is good too, though it suffers from not fantastic production, being recorded basically in a garage.

My favorite track from Act I, “Unrest in the House of Light”:

And my favorite track from Act II, and one of the songs that’s been on constant play recently, “The Hounds”:

Go check them out, the physical copies have a ton of liner notes that flesh out the story. They’re not appreciated nearly enough, so get ’em some more fans.

And finally, my copy of Pink Floyd’s The Endless River arrived yesterday and I’m really enjoying it.

Agree – great song.

@IveJustSeenAFaceo you must have resurfaced last week while I was away. Good to see you again.

Okay, get this.  The day that Jack Bruce’s death was announced (October 25), as a memorial, I decided to listen to everything Jack Bruce that I own.  I just finished yesterday.  What I listened to was:

“Wrapping Paper” – Cream (non-album single, 1966)
Fresh Cream – Cream (1966)
Disraeli Gears – Cream (1967)
Wheels Of Fire – Cream (two discs, 1968)
“Anyone For Tennis?” – Cream (non-album single, 1968)
Goodbye – Cream (1969)
Live Cream – Cream (1970, recorded 1967-1968)
Live Cream Volume II – Cream (1972, recorded 1968)
BBC Sessions – Cream (2003, recorded 1966-1968)
Songs For A Tailor – Jack Bruce (1969)
Harmony Row – Jack Bruce (1971)
Out Of The Storm – Jack Bruce (1974)
“Apostrophe” – Frank Zappa feat. Jack Bruce (1974)
How’s Tricks – Jack Bruce (1977)
Spirit, Live At The BBC 1971-1978 – Jack Bruce (2008, recorded 1971-1978, three discs)
B.L.T. – Robin Trower, Jack Bruce, and Bill Lordan (1981)
Truce – Robin Trower and Jack Bruce (1982)
Cities Of The Heart – Jack Bruce (1994, recorded 1993, live, two discs)
Around The Next Dream – Bruce-Baker-Moore (1994)
Shadows In The Air – Jack Bruce (2001)
More Jack Than God – Jack Bruce (2003)
Royal Albert Hall London May 2-3-5-6, 2005 – Cream (2005)
Silver Rails – Jack Bruce (2014)

In other words, I’m hearing Jack Bruce’s voice in my sleep now.  That’s not even close to his entire discography, either.

I played this solely on the wonderful title of the song and its a really good song (i promptly downloaded it legally for free) – Hank William’s ‘Your’e Gonna Change (Or Im-A-Gonna-Leave)’). I love these kind of titles in songs.

Listening to more of Hank. Just found out that Norah Jones wonderful ‘Cold Cold Heart’ is a cover of a Hank track.

Watching Kendrick Lamar’s performance on Saturday Night Live. It’s criminal he lost the Grammy to Macklemore.

Just finished listening to all of Sonic Highways by Foo Fighters. Good solid album. I think Outside is my favourite track. Some songs really sound a bit alike in places though. But I’m not disappointed.

And now: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds-Do The Damage

I like the B-side an awful lot better than the A-side.ahdn_paul_02

Not only is it a Hank track, it was one of his biggest hits. The Hank Williams biography film is a good watch, if you’re into the evolution of music (he influenced so many).

Was listening to ATMP the other day and Apple Scruffs came on.  I’ve been listening to it in my head ever since. The song makes so much more sense since I learned (here) who the Apple Scruffs were :)

One of the best theme songs of a cartoon, I believe. Only cartoon intro with a reggae song that I can think of…
