Ok, I made my first youtube a couple weeks ago and promptly forgot (as I often do). But I ran across it just now (a whole 7 views so far!). Anyway it’s 12 Bar Unoriginal, off the first Beatles boot I ever got, a huge collection of stuff. It’s a medley in 12-bar, an interesting little piece, worth listening to once anyway. I believe it comes from the 1/69 sessions. Sorry for the lack of entertaining pictures, it was my first time!

Heard this one on @Into the Sky with Diamonds’ show about women’s names…
P.S. With references to crinoline, organdy and honey hair, could this song be any more ’60s?

lol @Necko, I glanced at that cover through blurred vision, saw “Johnny Cash at…” and immediately thought “What, they’ve done a new cover for “At Folsom Prison” now??”
Listening to
Beethoven’s 6th Symphony. Beautiful and lyrical and rocking, IT’S GREAT! Up there with “A Day In The Life ” and circa-1971 Yes.

I’ve got the Szell in that Symphonies CD box, but I’m partial to this Alexander Titov/New Philharmonia version
from indeterminate date (fairly recent, it’s all digial.) And unfortunately I haven’t had the technology to play vinyl in years, anyways.GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. Only .99$ USD per symphony at Amazon, I might just check it out.

Really, I shouldn’t be making recommendations – I’m way too new to this Classical! Music! thing to really be aware of whether so-and-so’s interpretation is superior to whoozit’s! I tend to like the first version (of whatever piece) I hear best, if at all, and won’t consider intentionally seeking out any other versions until I feel I know it reasonably well (like, be able to hum along through much of it by memory). Main reason I bought the Szell box a few months ago was because it was a cheap and easy way to obtain symphony #s 1, 2, 4 & 8 all at once; getting secondary versions of Eroica/Pastoral/choral & the rest was secondary. I think I may actually refer Szell’s Eroica to my first one (Kosler/Slovak Philmarmonic) but that symphony’s not really a favourite yet (though I LOVE that scherzo!! and would love to hear some prog-metal band cover it!)

^ That sounds like something that belongs in the In My Life thread… can a mod move it please?
…Yeah, of course, I’m joking.
