I’m In Love With My Car (Live)
It’s the song that I want playing on the radio of a red Jaguar E-Type roadster, with the top down, blasting down a B-Road, wind in my hair, the typical classic sports car dream. It’s my favorite Roger Taylor tune. And it sounds even more rock and roll live.
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

Was thrilled a coupla weeks ago when I noticed that Youtube has several minutes of ACTUAL LIVE PERFORMANCE FOOTAGE from the album I’ve possibly played the most in the last six months: Cecil Taylor “Silent Tongues”, live at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in ’74! I was listening to the album a few minutes ago.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

A true day off with absolutely nothing to do, got up at my usual 7am or so and immediately got myself in the right frame of mind to watch (AND listen),
Shine a Light
the 2008 Stones concert film directed by Martin Scorcese. First time I’ve seen it. He’s done some good concert flicks for sure.
I was lucky enough to see them in 1981 (Start Me Up tour). It still stands as probably the 2nd best concert I’ve seen (1st, or course, is Paul – hmm, wonder if a thread like this has been done recently…).

Bar Unoriginal – my first youtube! (forgive the lack of video). It’s an odd sort of blues medley, perhaps from the A/B road sessions. Found in a folder called “191 Rare and Unlabeled Tracks” that came with some bootleg. Not all the tracks are actually rare and unlabeled (Free As A Bird being one notable exception It’s mostly them sitting around playing unrehearsed obscure covers or loose jams.

First time I have ever heard it (and now I have heard it twice). I’m not sure I would have it on my top 5 albums of all time list like many critics seem to – but it is one that is growing on me and for its time it is very good. I hadn’t realised that it was pretty much a Brian Wilson solo album with the rest of the band supplying the odd vocal and harmony – they only play instruments on one of the tracks from what I can see. A very personal album from Brian – shame he went through so many troubles after this release – almost another victim of the 60s.
The Beatles link is the impact Rubber Soul had on Brian, and how Sounds affected Paul and co – it spurred them on to even greater efforts on Pepper.

The Velvet Underground-Sunday Morning
Wtf, apparently I knew this song already. Years ago I was into a lot of indie, and was always on this website who picked their songs of the week, and it once had a song called Sunday Morning by Strawberry Switchblade or something like that. I liked that song and so I listened to that a few times. It was good, it had harmonies and all. Now I thought of checking out more by The Velvet Underground because I’d heard of them, and it’s only now that I find out it’s THIS song. Well whadda ya know?
