The sweet notes of Eleanor Rigby at the beginning of Fab Files. About to hear 33 1/3. Thanks, @WETSRoosa.

When we were on the commuter (small) train from Naples to Pompeii, a rowdy group of teenagers got on a stop or two after we did. When they discovered we didn’t know any Italian, they tried to speak English to us. We we having fun with them, then I asked if they knew The Beatles. I showed them my Abbey Road /Peanuts shirt. They got really loud and rowdy and started doing air guitars and yelling “The Beatles”. What a riot!

Next time you could say, “Che tipo di musica ascoltate? Mi piace I Beatles.” (I’m preparing to take my Italian final exam tomorrow, so I just had to practice. )

A Golden Moldy —
Song Sung Blue, by the late great Neil Diamond (one of those songs that the writer must have known immediately was solid gold):

Neil Diamond may be great, which is up for debate, but as of this date, he is not “late.” When I asked him if he was still alive, he replied in that still-smoldering voice of his: “I am… I said.”
My mother’s favorite song of all time was “Sweet Caroline.” Wow, that guy knew how to craft a single, didn’t he?

A Paul interview from 1986 promoting Press To Play , the guy interviewing him is a bit of a dullard bordering on idiot.

I’ve just listened to Paul discuss the song Press where he talks about getting a “massage” from Linda which leads to touching and pressing. I don’t think i’ll ever forget that, the words “massage”, “touch” and “press” have been forever tainted.
I need therapy.

Funny story: I actually once performed Sweet Caroline in school during music class with a friend. It was karaoke. I was so nervous I had to laugh all the way through the song. My teacher thought I was stoned or drunk or something. It worked out pretty well though. The theme was 60s btw. Why I didn’t choose a Beatles song is beyond me. If I recall correctly a few guys did Twist And Shout though. Fun times.

On the two 6 hour bus rides today and yesterday on the way to and from Canada, I listened to Green Day’s entire discography from 1990’s 39/Smooth to 2012’s trilogy of Uno, Dos, and Tre. What a fantastic band.
