I’m a big zep-head. My son bought all their albums and let me rip them
OOT (Obligatory On Topic): Right now, the Abbey Road medley
PS – For the first time in 22 years, I sang karaoke tonight. The song? Strawberry Fields Forever – did a very passable job, of course i hit the high notes a half step flat, and a couple of the low tones 1/2-1 step sharp, but overall I was quite psyched! Did the little vocal runs quite nicely if I say so myself (like the phrase ‘misunderstanding all you see-e-e'.

Talking of Zep, this is what I’m listening to. I’ve had it stuck in my head all day (in a good way), since I watched The Song Remains The Same last night.
(nice little Beatles/GH connection there, too).

I just finished listening to Led Zeppelin’s entire 5-night run at Earl’s Court in 1975. Now I’ve got Genesis at Earl’s Court on in ’77…great show.
For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m listening to every album on my iPod in alphabetical order. I started in September and currently I’m in the middle of the “E” albums. To read it about it on my blog, here’s the latest entry: http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com…..ay_16.html (click on the “Magical Mystery Listening Tour” tag at the bottom to get the older entries). With 19000 songs and 1500 hours of music on my iPod (137 GB), it’s gonna take me a while to get to the end but it’s been really cool to listen to stuff I hadn’t listened to in a while (3 or 4 years in some cases!)

OTM. Second-best English quartet evah!
Listening to Schubert’s Piano Sonata in A: 4th Movement RIGHT NOW!
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

…OK, I switched from the classical to the jazz station (been switching back & forth for the past coupla days at work) and hey-whaddaya-know, here’s a jazz cover of “Girl” by Michael Occhipinti, from Shine On, his all-John Lennon tribute album!
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I like them, but I admit I’m not familiar with their music beyond what gets played on the radio. I don’t own any of their albums, but I have Encomium, the tribute that included Duran Duran and Stone Temple Pilots.

Parlance, try Led Zeppelin III maybe. One of their least hard-rocking (lots of acoustic instrumentation) and one of my favourites. (But then they’re all my favourite!)
Back on topic: Listening to “For Otis”, by the Griffith Hiltz Trio

As far as Zep goes, I think my fave album is Houses of the Holy, with III a close 2nd.
OOTC: Listening to the Swedish Penny Lane EP. 4 of my fave songs! I haven’t compared them closely with the album versions to see if they were a different mix/take, but they seem “brighter” to me.
Possible spoiler follows a few lines down….
That is a surprising song choice for what was apparently an encore. The original group was/is Aussie, right? I like the way he rocks it out. I bet everyone in the audience’s jaw dropped even lower than yours…I lived 3 hours from his hometown on the north Jersey shore (just south of NYC), back in 79-84, and could have seen him but couldn’t appreciate what I now know what could have been one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen 🙁 Hopefully I didn’t’ spoil this, but I flagged it anyway. I missed the ‘spoiler’ button but I put it on the first line and left space.

If you’re looking for another suggestion beyond the ‘greatest hits’ kind of stuff and LZ ”3” than Von suggested, Led Zeppelin IV is pretty amazing, too. If you give it a go then I hope you like what you hear.

Right now? Watching and listening to The Who live at Kilburn ’77. Speaking of English quartets…I can’t even understand Townsend and Moon’s accents lol…Man Keith Moon truly was a tremendous drummer…perhaps the best I’ve ever seen. He plays at like twice the speed of most “good” drummers (Phil Collins being a notable exception). Townsend jumps and does the splits like Gene Kelly. Entwhistle is a master of his instrument. “My wife…” A bit off topic…I live 50 miles away from Cincinnati, OH, where 11 people were crushed to death before a Who concert by the crowd pressure against the front doors in, I think, 1979
