Listening to the boys knocking it out the park during their last week in Hamburg in December 1962!

Found a green-colored box while cleaning out our storage rental this morning. Turns out it’s a box containing a scrapbook my first g.f. put together containing the first year of our relationship (we dated for 2 1/2 years) as well as some old CDs I forgot I still had; it’s all CDs I listened to during that time frame (1999-2000). So today, the last day of 2013, is a weird trip back in time as my wife, a scrapbook fanatic herself, is looking at the scrapbook and laughing at old pics of me (“You guys look so cute together!”) while I’m listening to bands I haven’t heard in years, like Gomez and Travis.

Glad Mrs. wetsroosa is taking it so well. Will she demand you burn the whole thing after this nostalgia trip, especially the scrapbook?

Actually, she thinks the whole thing is rather humorous. As for the scrapbook, I’m not sure what to do with it. Wife says she doesn’t care if we keep it (there’s photo albums of pictures with her ex-husband, jealousy isn’t a problem in our household), and for better or worse, that WAS a huge part of my life, but I’d feel weird holding on to it.

Yeah. Be glad she didn’t demand to know why it had been kept all these years and if there was a reason why you hadn’t got rid of it.Fortunately for me, I didn’t marry a jealous woman.
Awwww. That’s so sweet.
Just watch out for boiling rabbits.

Not wishing to derail another thread, over in the ‘Peace and Love: The Ringo groove‘ trcanberra mentioned Ringo playing on Zoom by ELO. Well that immediately had me seeing Ringo playing drums on Zoom by Fat Larry’s Band. So i am playing that song. Anyone for good 80’s cheese?

That’s tremendous. No, this video can derail any thread it wants to. Though if Ringo wanted to drum on this song, he’d have to gain about 200 lbs.
By the way, can you imagine Paul rocking that bass guitar from the video?

Right now I am listening to the magnificent Scottish ’80s band Aztec Camera, and being reminded how much I love(d) them doing Van Halen on a b-side:

Zoom is awesome. I found it again, after years of it missing, hiding on a cd that i had ripped other songs off.
And since i’m posting: Two of the most awesome Girl group songs ever known in the history of chart life ever (if they can build up Tommy ‘Tone Deaf’ Turner on ‘Warble to Make Me Rich’ then i can do it as well especially when the songs are damn good). Both from the Shangri-La’s (i might have posted these before but they are two of my favourite songs).

I know “Remember (Walking in the Sand)” best from Aerosmith’s drugged-out cover of it from their ’79 Night in the Ruts album. It doesn’t have the spoken intro, but everything else is exactly like the Shangri-La’s original.

I think the intro is from an outtake and has been added to the extended stereo mix above, well its not on any of the extended versions you can buy but can be found in the outtake session on youtube.

Just listened to the Dylan Best of the Original Mono Recordings CD which I made a clone of with the free downloads from the boxed mono set I got on Thursday. Sounds nice – now I just need to find time to slot the actual CDs into my listening schedule
Oh, and from up there ^ somewhere – love Zoom.
