I’ll bet you €2 @AppleScruffJunior that if you have eaten food out of McDonalds that at some point you have eaten horse. Not so long ago if you bought a Spaghetti Bolognese ready meal from many retailers you’d be eating an old nag.

Made this chicken recipe in the slow-cooker (but with actual brown sugar, not splenda).
Also, a local store had Chayote squash two for a dollar, which I’d never heard of before, much less tried. So I used this recipe. I liked that it stayed crunchy, so it was a win.

I cooked fried rice for my dinner with carrots, cabbage, egg, sausage,
And it looked VERY tasty!
My son was out for dinner and had Chinese, being the talkative 16-year old he is all I could get out of him was that there was some fried rice in his night as well.

I bought a box of 6 packages of microwavable garlic quinoa and brown rice from Seeds of Change just to try out since it was the cheapest quinoa option at Costco and I loved it! I looked at the ingredients to see if I could make it myself. They used sunflower oil, sea salt, parsley and onion powder with the garlic.
This, however, is what I wish I were having:

I made chicken laksa, with the usual coconut milk curry soup, chicken and a bit of tofu, plus vermicelli noodles and normal hokkien noodles, beansprouts, lebanese cucumber, coriander, and the secret weapon, matchsticked pineapple! I tried out adding some lime leaves to it, and was surprised how much they add to taste! I can see why pineapple is popular in Thai curries now though! Om Nom Nom

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Drinking my second (and last-ever!) Diet Fresca-and-gin. This sugar-free soda is just as awful-tasting as any other I’ve encountered – dunno why I thought it’d be any different, but the store didn’t have any tonic, nor any regular Fresca (which I imagined would be the closest thing to a substitute.) Next time I’ll just stick with my usual grapefruit juice as a mixer; in the meantime, I have no alternative but to go heavier on the gin! And a healthy addition of straight lemon juice to try and kill that Aspartame flavour.
(Dinner soon: chicken pie.)

^^ I remember that one.
I had a doctor’s appointment near Sprinkles, the cupcake bakery. So I got a Cuban coffee cupcake. Chocolate, cinnamon and coffee. Perfect combination. I might even try to make a batch now.
Congrats on your first baking foray, trcanberra!

I resisted trying quinoa for years. But it’s a great vegetarian option for protein. It’s expensive, but my chef friend told me it goes a long way.
