Just ate for the first time black eyed peas, collard greens, fried chicken, and cornbread for New Year’s. My dad use to eat it every year because it’s a southern tradition to eat black eyed peas, collards, and cornbread on New Year’s, but I was a picky kid. 2020 was a bad year, so I’ll do anything to make the next year better.
Black eyed peas = luck
Collard greens = money
Cornbread = gold

Quick stir fry.
Chopped red and white onion, crushed garlic, sweated off with salt, chili, paprika, black pepper, thyme, and oregano; chuck in five rashers of smoked back bacon that have been cut into strip; add pre-cooked five-spice rice and a half-dozen tiger prawns. Stir through.
Yummy.
