Offline With the current lockdown in place, we don’t really have much meat to cook with since the prices for all meats and seafood has seemed to have increased quite a bit. So for dinner yesterday I made some alphabet soup with just carrots, onions and potatoes alongside some chicken bones and stock. Simple enough, and it managed to feed our family of four.

I was talking to some Chinese girls a year ago and they were astonished that calves have to be separated from their mothers when they’re a few hours to a few days old so we can get milk year-round. They were shocked, didn’t even occur to them that cows just aren’t naturally lactating year round.
Cities have their positives but they also remove people a lot from what’s on their knife and fork. I think it should be mandatory to bring school kids out to real farms, not petting farms, every few years and show them how livestock are raised and treated. Not only small farms but also industrial-sized farms.
And the poor creatures that are arguably treated the worst in every country- pigs.
Born in a shed, die in a shed, never see the sun, never feel grass beneath their feet.

Yes and it is saddening!

I know. I don’t eat meat unless my parents make me and that is the reason why.

I am aware. However I’m not sure the heartbreaking Bambi still is exactly accurate in this day and age (insert Rita and ASJ’s posts). I take APES- I’ve seen my share of horrifying videos.
