That’s the only way I eat ’em too – never could bear biting into the damn things. Cut ’em in half, halves into quarters, shave off the bits of core/seeds/stem(s) at the four corners and you’ve nothing left but sweet tart apple meat.
Just had a “Red Delicious” cut up this way. You don’t mention cutting the peel off. Can I assume you eat the peel too? I do. Just being nosy.

An apple. My wife and I and the kids picked 25 lbs of Cortland apples last weekend so I’m having my 2nd of the day…delicious!

What I’m NOT eating right now is brown rice – just burnt it (for the second time) because I got caught up reading this forum!
When I married my husband, he came complete with a kitchen gadget called a rice cooker. I had never even heard of one before. It is so handy . Dump in a cup of rice and a cup of water and turn it on. Read all the Beatles Bible forum posts you want to read. The rice cooker will cook the rice perfectly without you.
My husband even gave one to my mom for Christmas one year. She loves that thing.

Not now but at 8:30am tomorrow morning I will be devouring a roll and sausage or two with sauce with a nice cup of tea. Last meal before wisdom tooth removal.
Oh, man, good luck. I had all of mine pulled out at the same time. Do they still recommend milkshakes to alleviate the pain?

I’m thinking about getting one, maybe something for the Christmas wish list? I could do it in the microwave but I generally like brown rice done the old-fashioned way – (you know, so it’s black and crunchy on the bottom!) :-/

Don’t mean to be ignorant, but why can’t you just use a pan of boiling water? Surely the rice can over-cook in this cooker thing too? Or can’t it? Never heard of a rice cooker before.

Possibly a stupid question but can you add things to the rice in the cooker? I tend to include a stock cube, peas, onion etc when cooking it in a pan as like Emily I’ve never heard of a rice cooker.

Yep, you can add stuff to the rice, and once you get used to a rice cooker, you’ll find it’s a very versatile machine. I had a friend who used hers for everything from pasta dishes to chocolate lava cake! There’s plenty of recipes on the interweb, as I found out last year when I got mine. Wonderful machine. Wouldn’t be without it.

The one my husband gave my mom steams vegetables also.
I’ve never tried adding other stuff when cooking rice in the rice cooker. Let’s look them up on Amazon and see what all they can do.

My rice cooker is ancient.

What they say you can cook in one, and what you can cook in one are different.

Sounds close to a crock pot to me.
Hubby didn’t come with a crock pot. I don’t know the difference between these two kitchen appliances.

Hahaha. You could be nostalgic every Now And Then and make it the old-fashioned way.
