Happy Valentines Day to anyone who can find any meaning in such a commericalised piece of nonsense. If you need some numpties to tell you to tell the person you love you love them and get them a present then really you should take a look at yourself.

I cannot argue with the fact that this day was created and mostly benefits only those who hawk candy, flowers and greeting cards. Agreement is also reached on your point that we should not have to be reminded to tell those dear to us that we love them.
In our little corner of the world, we seize the day just the same. We tell each other “I love you” every morning before leaving for work, every night before going to sleep and every time we end a phone call with each other. This ensures that the last words (God spare me the day) we ever speak to each other with be those precious three. No need for numpties here, thank you very much. Still, we seize this day. We exchange cards, buy some yummy chocolates for the house, go out for a nice dinner and thumb our noses at the florist. We seize the day because love is in the air everywhere we go and no we longer stand out as the only ones professing it. It is a celebration of our affection, appreciation, dependence on and need for one another. It is not a reminder. So today, when I “take a look at myself”, I will rejoice at the image that stands beside me and seize this wonderfully glorious day.

Thank you, Zig. I posted in this thread last year that that is basically how I am celebrating the day, and it’s helped me approach the day without anxiety.
And last night, someone told me that in Mexico, Valentine’s Day is called the Day of Love and Friendship. I like this.

Offline A belated Valentine’s Day greeting to the ladies of the Forum – forgive me as yesterday was quite hectic and I did not log on to my computer much.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your contributions to our little community. You have all made me smile, laugh and think. I’ve learned from you. I’ve enjoyed your creativity whether it is art, songs, writing, videos, etc… Most of all, I have very much enjoyed your virtual friendship.
