Hey Qman, nice to have you return again! I feel like I’m too old to properly evaluate Gold Panda, plus I just took a turn, but I hope the thread stays active for a bit

Good to see you too! It’s been a very busy few months since my last visit, but I’m hoping to spend a little more time around these parts. But absolutely give Gold Panda a go, you’re never too old for good music! Well, at least music that I think is good..
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Interesting mix of sounds, nice incorporation of Eastern instruments; those, plus the jarring tape edits continually interrupting the groove, are basically straight from Yoko’s (& JohnKlausRingo’s) POB album and redone for the computer age. Neat. Turn it up one notch please.

Definite choice for “Turn it down” here:
On the Be Here Now album, myth and reality collided for Oasis, and they stopped any attempt to develop their own identity and turned their Beatles obsession into pretentious parody. Noel Gallagher at this time even referred to this song by saying, “Imagine how much cooler Hey Jude would be with three key changes.” Well, that would’ve turned it from a classic to thoroughly obnoxious.

Haha, there’s virtually no chance I’d ever give O’Aces a “Turn up” – to my ears, they range from “turn down at least one” to “unplug the stereo now”…but I actually found myself enjoying the chorus’ ascending chords, some of the guitar-gnarls, and even their attempt at “Hey Jude /Isn’t It A Pity ” epic-ism. Too bad Gallagher (Noel? Liam? who cares) is still the worst singer ever, or a contender. Leave it where it is.
This number features a spoken-word bit midway through by producer himself:

Just found this thread. Cool way to potentially be introduced to new music!
I like some Cheap Trick, but I’d probably turn this down.

I see I clicked on this thread at the right time. Turn “A View To A Kill” UP! Duran Duran has been one of my big musical discoveries this year.
One of my other musical discoveries this year has been the band Japan:

Ooh, ’80s new-wave nostalgia! No way I can turn Kim Wilde anything but UP! (Man, I’m old…)
80s again, anarcho-punk division. Warning: Dirty words (including that one, you know the one)

First of all, that album art is INCREDIBLE. Second of all, turn it up! What a groove.
I see no reason not to continue the 80’s kick with this amazing little synth-pop Abba cover I recently discovered:

A cool cover of one of my favorite ABBA songs? Turn it up!
Technically released in 1990, but totally has an 80s vibe. A guilty pleasure:

Nelson – After the Rain
From Nelson, otherwise known as the twin sons of Rick Nelson. That song wasn’t too bad, crunchy guitar and the chorus was kinda tuneful. Turn it up a small bit.

I’d turn it down as the drum (hi-hat?) is irritating me, take that out in a remix and it would be far better.
Heard this about a week ago and had no idea what to make of it. The video (which I’ve seen once and not in full) does not help form a stable opinion.

Yeah… not sure what to make of that either but I think I’ll turn it down. I have never liked songs that spell out words, tbh, and dragging your grandparents into a song that’s basically just one long desperate cry of “I’M HORNY” sorta rubs me wrong. That said, musically, it’s pretty fun.
This song was cowritten by Giorgio Moroder and features all 4 members of Queen, yet it was slated by critics, who gave it a Golden Raspberry Award for worst original song. I happen to think it’s a bop. I present it for your judgement.

I’d say turn it up. Weird that critics bashed it, maybe it was because they expected better of Queen or something. My first time hearing it and I liked it. I agree it is a bop
I present The Velvet Underground with their song “I found a reason”. I like it. It’s one of their calmer and softer songs. Let me know what you guys think.

Turn it up, Ive always liked that song when I had the Loaded CD in heavy rotation in the car. Feels good to listen to, especially if I’m in a bad mood like I am now after a tough loss for the Falcons.
This song was written a long time ago by Jojo and Mikey Houser, who was their orignal guitarist and songwriter before he passed away in 2002, they recently recorded it an released it.
