That entire Femmes album is timeless even though it’ll always feel like 1987 to me. The melody is nice,, maybe a bit repetitive, and yeah quite Velvetsish. Turn it up to comfort level and replay entire album!
Muse track was epic! Turn it uppish.
OK here’s something I’m gonna post without listening first…I’ve been curious about Todd’s cover for years. Good cover, bad one, who knows?

@QuarryMan what’s with the blank post? Did you by any chance happen to get my stolen post?
I did, I think. It was just a repeat of my post in the other thread, so I went into the edit and just erased the text. I didn’t look to closely but I’m pretty sure it opened with saying “quarryman said” as if it was quoting.

What can I say, I’m a busy man. Lots of Led to get out, you know, and there’s always another Bowie or Beatles album I haven’t gotten round to recently…
Fine! Very well! Have it your way… Listening now.
I guess I’ll have to turn it up. I wasn’t impressed at first but I think it’s a grower.
Muse gets in even closer touch with their inner 1980s

OMG the last time you posted Muse, I was gonna say something like “hm, these guys probably treasured their elder siblings’ old Iron Maiden and Queen (and maybe Duran Duran?) records” but decided against it. And now this! One of the ’80s signature tunes, plus extra guitar skronk. Up!

You bet. They’ve done a lot of heavily Queen-influenced stuff in the past and have been likened to Queen as well for their reputation as a hard-stadium-rocking band.
Turn T Rex up a little bit. The droning bassline seems a bit of a drag to me, but it’s offset by some pretty groovy guitar (and other) sounds.

The Shaggs are legendary. As for The Company She Keeps, turn it way up. Very upbeat and enjoyable track.

Aw no fair, all you guys on the other side of the world wake up early and get to weigh in on the Shaggs and Sugarcubes, meanwhile I’m stuck with the yucky ol’ Beatles! I’m not sure whether I prefer this version to the master, but it’s nice hearing a take with Beatle instrumentation and vocals from more than Ringo. Harmony is weird and rough – sounds like they’re not necessarily in the same key. Whatever…no way I’m not gonna request that the Beatals be turned UP.

Turn that wayyyy up, Trane is a god. Expression isn’t a favourite of mine, but pretty much everything he did was awesome.

Haha I never would’ve thought that YOU would want to evaluate this one! Yeah, “Expression”‘s long flute duet isn’t as great as it might’ve been…apparently Trane was becoming too weak from illness to continue on tenor 🙁

Amazing that he kept recording to the last though. Reminds me of Freddie or Bowie.
