Turn it up; great song, and great video. When was it recorded? It has a late ’80s early 90’s feel.
Tell me what you guys think of this; the original, unadulterated version. I think it’s a great song, amazing lyrics, and the perfect arrangements -perhaps not a great video (it reminds me of Hopper’s paintings though):
Suzanne Vega – Tom’s Diner
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

The Cranberries ‘Zombie’ is from 1994.
I prefer that version than the one with the music added, which i always found to be a distraction, so turn it up.

Piggies – Beatles
Well, up of course! Turn it way up! (We’ve had some interesting discussions here about Piggies )
Let me think what you guys think of this masterpiece sung by my Goddess, Sinéad O’Connor, part of the late, the great Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley soundtrack. And if you can find out who composed it, let me know.

@Oudis It was written by French-Lebonese film score composer Gabriel Yared.

To hear that i have to sign in to youtube. Found another video. I know that song in its clean variation of which hearing hearing the chorus the first time is ok but it gets boring quickly. As for the explicit version it’s swearing for the sake of swearing which bores me ever more. Wow, you know some naughty words. Turn both down.
A far better song featuring CeeLo Green

The song is alright, both in terms or lyrics and music. Turn it up. Probably it’ll never be among my favorites but turn it up.
Now, here’s a song that first appeared in the 1993 Sting album Ten Summoner’s Tales (a pun on Sting’s surname, Sumner) It was used in the soundtrack of Léon: The Professional, a 1994 film by Luc Besson, with Jean Reno, a very young Nathalie Portman, Gary Oldman and Danny Aiello; a masterpiece. I’ve chosen the video of the film, but if the images distract you, close your eyes and listen to the music, and especially the lyrics. One of Sting’s greatest moments, along with Roxanne. A rare thing: pop music for adults –the age in life when one starts to wonder about Destiny. I hope you like it.
Sting – Shape of my heart.

Good melody, with unexpected variations. Again, it won’t ever be one of my favorites (it’s good to dance to it but that’s not enough) but I respect the composers and performers. Great female voice. Turn it up.
Now, a song from the 1973 film The Wicker Man. I just love it, both musically and lyrics-wise. I couldn’t find the video that’s part of the movie, I’m sorry. Here you have:
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

This thread has been asleep for two weeks; time to wake it up. This song, it’s a funny thing, I heard the first minute and thought I’d hate it, but I kept on listening and actually I didn’t. It’s no big thing, repetitive rhythm, just a funny rap. Leave the volume low and it’s good for a party (or loud if you want to dance to it; but there are better songs for that).
Now I would like you guys to listen to one of the classics of the ’80s; its lyrics remind me –in a way– to the poem If by Rudyard Kipling –a twentieth century Pop version; and that’s a big compliment. Musically? Perfect. You’re allowed to dislike it though. From the 1987 Sting’s album Nothing Like the Sun,
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)
