I just wanted to ask everyone to keep the South (and especially Alabama, my home) in your thoughts/prayers. If any of you live in the US, I would also ask that you consider donating blood sometime soon. I believe there is a shortage. My family is fine. In fact, I slept through most of the storms, but about 20 miles away, the area of Phil Campbell got hit really hard. There are a lot of injured, missing, and dead. The school in the town was devastated, and I know many people who have lost their homes. Please consider making donations to the Red Cross if you can. Thanks!

My sincerest prayers of support are going out to you southerners right now. There is a blood shortage in Alabama (looks like watching CNN dies have value), and I feel sincerely sorry for all those who lost a family member/friend/other acquaintance.
(Also, Is it just me, or do a feel a sort of U/V emerging in the world? The bad, then some good?)
Edit: The US government should offer to double all donations to the Red Cross, up to a certain amount. It raises more money, and, as shown when the Canadian government did the same after Haiti, it made more donate.

Perhaps it's too soon, but I'm surprised by the lack of “Donate Here” buttons on the sites I visit.
I'm glad you're safe, kedame. Everyone involved is certainly in my prayers.
This might be worth checking out if you live in that part of the country – weathercall.net.

Hey, guys, thanks for the well wishes. My family wasn't affected at all by the storms other than losing cable/tv/internet for a day. In fact, I slept through most of the storms because school was out that day. Still, I thank you for your kindness. There have been lots of horror stories, but also lots of comforting stories, too.

That's correct. I asked the Red Cross if there was a single page that webmasters could link to, to allow people from all around the world to donate easily, plus banners/overlays to put on the sites. They didn't get back to me, which was a shame.
There are country-specific sites (eg redcross.org is the American Red Cross), but that's not much help if you run a site such as this one that gets visitors from Here, There And Everywhere . Someone needs to create a method where a person's IP address is detected and they're routed through to the correct destination.
