‘Love Me Do ‘, the Beatles first Parlophone single, reached #17 (seventeen) in the main UK chart of the time.‘Seventeen’ was the working title of the first song on the first Beatles Parlophone album, ‘Please Please Me ‘.
At times I swear there is something out there who worked all this out.

There is a Glasgow in Montana that is named after Glasgow in Scotland.
And that led me to this list of locations in the United States with a Scottish name.
Quite incredible.

Here is a sad tale for you all about ASJ and her study of physics, biology and chemistry.
When I was 14/15 I was sitting the Junior Cert which is the Irish equivalent of the GCSEs. Now I always liked biology but hated physics/chemistry because I hated rote-learning which is what they were, you know learning definitions off word by word and if you missed a word it would make the definition wrong and you would get no marks for it.
Well I did my mock/practice exam for Junior Cert science and I got 61% or a C in it. Now I was a bit sad because I studied a bit for it but I thought what the hell I’ll do better in the real thing.
So off I went where I spent at least an hour studying for science every evening, did exam papers and everything and I went into the exam pretty happy and when the results came out- I got a C.
So I said eff this and didn’t do any science subject for the Leaving Cert and just did a load of languages instead (I’m pretty sure I was the only kid who didn’t do a science and definitely the only one who did more than 1 foreign language in a class of about 80). I ended up getting all As in my languages (and in geography for some reason) got the best grades in my year and in the school in a very long time but because I didn’t do a science subject (in particular chemistry), I can’t become a vet or a doctor, I have the grades to be a vet/dentist and I’d get it if I just bothered to study chemistry for a year and get a C in it but eh I still hate science.
I appreciate science and it’s a wonderful thing but it just doesn’t click with me.
And there’s your story kids, the moral is: no matter how hard you try, you will still fail. So don’t try.

Could have been carrying a pair of bongos, walked up to Ringo and joined in.

I didn’t know they had The Simpsons in other countries!
Doesn’t it bother you watching TV in other accents? When a movie or a television show is in a different accent it is sometimes hard for me to follow and makes the experience less enjoyable.

Going by that logic I wouldn’t be able to watch most tv shows as the accent was different.
Here is an episode of ‘Still Game’, one of Scotland’s greatest ever comedies, see if anyone can understand it.

I’m American and I watch Doctor Who just fine. I also can watch the Beatles movies and understand what’s going on(Apart from the Magical Mystery Tour , but I don’t think that most people with the same accent know what’s going on in that movie). I usually can understand accents perfectly fine. Maybe thats just me.

I got about half of it, but I don’t get some of the vernacular. I can understand most English accents just fine (though it took me a little while to get used to the accents of The Beatles); it’s Scottish and Irish accents that get me.

I’ll do a video one day doing all of the various Irish accents that I can do, you’ll love Limerick.
I love a Scottish accent though, light Edinburgh accent does wonders I say . I like thick Glasgow accents as well so long as it’s not Nedish. I have no problem understanding Scots though, here’s a video that might be fun for you @Little Piggy Dragonguy

YEEEEAAAHHHH!
Though, strictly speaking, that’s pretty much impossible to decipher because it’s a mucky old sound collage, but I applaud the mention of it at least.
I recall ASJ posting that vid before, and I only understood about 15%; this time around, I understood 25%, now I’m right proud of meself.
And I thought I was good with accents!
