I-er-land. But according to AppleScruffJunior, it’s actually more like Areland. Light and fluffy, like sheep’s wool and Irish accents… or something like that. I couldn’t find the post. It’s somewhere in the Pet Peeves thread.
Only the Irish can say it properly! I always say it like you. I think you should say things in your own accent unless everyone around you agrees it is actually ‘wrong’. My Mum (having spent a long time living in Spain) always chuckles at my pronunciation of ‘Paella’ (me sounding the double L’s in the English way) but I think if you are going to be a stickler for pronunciation of foreign words then you’ve got to do them all. I notice she doesn’t pronounce Murcia in the correct way 🙂 Of course, being a correct son I haven’t mentioned this, especially since even at 85 she is a demon at Scrabble and always wipes the floor with me! Growing up, she would always say ‘It’s different from, not different to’ and a few others.
And I’m going to go on saying I-er-land too until I can speak properly like AppleScruffJunior!

Jam is a renewable resource that is biodegrade. If anything throwing the jars would be worse for the planet depending on what the jar is made of. Jam would be better to put in a compost heap instead of recycled
