4.18 million miles in the USA. I bet they don’t count “roads” like the gravel and dirt road that runs for about a mile by the lake by my house. That “road” or whatever you want to call it doesn’t have a name.

We have the 9th longest system in the world – 510,000 miles.
Amazing how a country most the size of the US has such a significantly smaller network – probably because of a massive desert in the middle

The Statue of Liberty was the first lighthouse in the United States powered by electricity.
(Also, very appropriate I should learn this now since Independence Day is this weekend.)

Robbie McIntosh and Paul Wickens both played on Tasmin Archers’ #1 UK single ‘Sleeping Satellite’ giving it a nice Paul connection.
George Harrison played on Jimmy Nail’s 1992 album ‘Growing Up in Public’, the song was called ‘Real Love‘.

A Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is currently being cast. Rumor is they may pay the big bucks for Zendaya.
In related news, since I first saw the Dido video for her song White Flag (starring David Boreanaz who played Angel), I could have sworn that Sarah Michelle Gellar played his date at the premiere. I even bet my daughter 20 bucks…oops! (see 2:30 if you thought the same).

The air molecules in Earth’s atmosphere are about the same size as blue light wavelengths and therefore scatter blue light, a phenomenon known as Rayleigh Scattering. That is why the sky appears blue (I knew this already). When the atmosphere contains more dust (which is closer in size to red light wavelengths), more red light wavelengths are scattered and the sky appears more red.
On Mars, the atmosphere is mostly dust, and therefore closer in size to red wavelengths, giving the sky a reddish tint. Mars’s sky is a golden color by day; during sunrise and sunset, the sky is a rosy hue with the vicinity of the sun appearing bluish.

Learned today (not literally, was a week ago or so) that John and Paul contributed backing vocals to the Rolling Stones’ “Dandelion”.
(I knew about “We Love You” but didn’t realize they’d helped out on that single’s b-side as well.)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
