I think the problem here is that we keep electing old people to run our countries. It’d be really nice to have a 25 year old in power instead of a 75 year old because the 25 year old would actually make real progress and not just this slow progress or even anti-progress these old people who grew up in a time when being gay was both a mental illness and a criminal offense.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

You’re onto something. Look at the results Jacinda Ardern (40 Y.O. female PM of New Zealand) has achieved with her COVID response.

I agree. I don’t know why you have to be so old to be the president. it doesn’t make any sense to me.

I think it’s because old people tend to vote more than young people do. Which is not a very good thing, I think. How I wish I could vote…
Same.

Daylight saving time lasts about 10 months in Morocco.
This year, it starts 31 May, and ends 11 April next year.
Why would you bother?? Just follow Chile’s lead, and use Daylight saving all year round.

Apparently Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Robbie Robertson all worked on Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Southern Accents.

The 1996 promotional site for the Warner Bros. live-action/animation Space Jam is still up on the interweb.
This was state-of-the-art at the time, back in the days of dial-up. Weird to think it’s older than many of you.

I can’t watch Looney Tunes after Chuck Jones left, same as when Spongebob got a new voice.
The worst was making the Pink Panther talk.

What? Spongebob got a new voice? When? Last time I checked, his original voice actor, Tom Kenny, still voiced him.

What incredible graphics! Wow! It feels like I’m LITERALLY FLOATING IN SPACE! And I especially love the red lettering on the black background.

Today I learned of the longest-running cartoon series in the world, a Japanese anime by the name of Sazae-san, which has been airing since 1969. Still popular today, production of the series has unfortunately been put on hold due to the coronavirus.

The spacesuits worn by Neil Armstrong and others on the moon were made by the International Latex Corporation, a division of the company that manufactured Playtex bras and girdles.
@Into the Sky with Diamonds probably knows this, but I found it quite amusing that the spacesuits were made by a company whose dayjob was making bras.

I was today years old when I found out that “Sweet Home Alabama” is a response to Neil Young’s “Southern Man” and “Alabama”.
Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol’ Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don’t need him around anyhow
Bruh how did I not know this??? Like I did not I not recognize that Young is mentioned by name in the verse? Now that I think about it– I don’t think i’ve ever paid attention to the verse of this song before now oof….

I recently dug up my research paper from my 10th grade honors English class in which I argued extensively and passionately for comprehensive sex education, which led me down a rabbit hole of researching my state’s current sex education policies and legislation, and through such I learned that Pennsylvania is one of the many states that doesn’t require schools to provide sex education, but that the material determined to be used by school districts is such that stresses abstinence (and if you know anything about sex ed. stats, its that stressing abstinence is highly ineffective compared to comprehensive sex ed). A silver-lining is that it does require school sot educate about HIV/AIDS, buuuttt that hasn’t been really executed terrifically (our whole HIV/AIDS education in my public school was basically just “This is HIV/AIDS– it’s bad. It causes you to not be able to recover good from sickness. You get it through blood. Homosexual men and heroin addicts get it. Thus, just don’t have sex” and if y’all think I’m joking I’m literally not it was that simplified) *sigh*……However, I did come across House Bill No. 1586 , which was introduced by Rep. Brian Sims (D) last year and, if passed, would require all public schools in PA to provide comprehensive and medically-accurate sex education. If passed, this bill would be a huge leap for sex ed in Pennsylvania and be so much more beneficial to adolescents and youth, giving them the proper knowledge necessary to grow into sexually healthy and conscious individuals. I’ve been fervently researching the status of HB1586, and found that it has been referred to a committee specializing in education and that it is has made “25% progression.” I really hope that his bill makes it to Governor Wolf’s desk and that he signs it, it would mean so much for the future of sexual health for so many people.
