I’ve just discovered that ‘I’ll Still Love You’ was not originally called ‘Whatever’ but ‘Whenever’. I prefer the former considering it got left in the vaults of George and is pretty much a rambling run-thru.

The first public performance of “Stairway To Heaven” was not, as I had thought, on this day in 1971, but almost a month earlier on 5 March in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Idly googling random phrases for dumb laffs minutes ago, I enter “national apple day”, and learn that a) such a day actually exists; and b) it is on my birthday*.

Watched a documentary on Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Their 1987 promo for ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ was directed by George Lucas!!
Peter Asher, the Peter of Peter and Gordon who’s first single was written by Paul McCartney , became the manager of Linda Ronstadt in the 1970’s. And on another Beatles matter, their arrival in America in February 1964 featured.
Three cool Beatles connections there.

Haha wow!
A little Googling for details reminds me what I’d forgotten: that Geoege and Linda were a romantic item for a time in the 80s, after he’d divorced his first wife (and talented artistic collaborator) Marcia.

I learned today that there is a Seinfeild thread in the server. Educational stuff.
Side note: I am 5 days too late in posting this, but a man I admire and respect greatly has passed due to the coronavirus at the ripe old age of 80. Rick May voice acted in one of my favorite video game characters ever, and so the news did hit me quite badly.

As expected, but that does make me wonder: why don’t the mods just have one TV/Movie thread in All Together Now to streamline random TV/Movie conversation so that we don’t just have a random Seinfeld thread? I mean the Seinfeld thread was, like, 2 years ago but still
Eh but then again the “Impossible To Derail” thread is also a catch-all so I guess we don’t really need a TV/Movie thread when you think about it realistically
Ok I’m done thinking aloud now

What?? That’s obscene!
My first thought is ‘that can’t be right’ but then I realised ‘no wait it probably could be…’ and my heart sank.
This is why we can’t have nice things!

I mean, technically, it’s spent so that the couple getting married can have nice things.
A wedding ring is gonna be something you’ll hopefully wear for the rest of your life, so that makes sense to want to spend some money on. But just one day? Is it really worth it? Wouldn’t you rather put that money toward something that will give you use and pleasure in your actual married life? Like, you could put down payments on a couple of extremely nice cars. Or buy a small RV. Or a really goddamn expensive guitar+amp+pedalboard. But I digress…
