Did Forbes not realise that Scrooge McDuck is a fictional character? I liked him, hated his nephews.

Sssssssshhhhhh they’re not meant to know that, it might upset them >.>

I have some cousins*, a pair of twins and a brother, and I used to call them ‘Huey, Dewey and Luey’ because one of the twins was called ‘Hugh’, the other was ‘Brian’ but meh, it used to piss them off and I found it quite funny, I was around 7 at the time.

*I don’t think they are my cousins just some very distant relations that I met at my great-grandfather’s and great-grandmother’s funerals. I haven’t seen them since, they’d be around 13 now which is a strange thought.

I also learned just now that ‘Countdown’ was originally a French game called ‘Des Chiffres et des Lettres‘ (Numbers and Letters- how uncreative can you be?). And I don’t like it compared to the UK version, first off there’s no Rachel Riley and secondly the lady who puts up the letters doesn’t calculate the numbers round like Rachel does, some random man does it and they use an on-screen calculator to calculate their numbers, the man doesn’t even draw them up on the whiteboard- too much use-of-technology for my liking a-hard-days-night-john-2

Today I became qualified to lift boxes (no really I did).

Zillions of bad backs around the world will tell you that good lifting techniques are amongst the most important life skills you can learn.

Apparently, Judy Garland’s real name was Frances Gumm. I probably wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t find that on Buzzfeed.

Jelly Babies were first called Peace Babies after World War One to mark the end of the war; one account has them first being invented by the Victorians, another that it was in 1918. Production was stopped during WWII and when they were reintroduced in 1953 they were renamed what we know them as now.

According to some (so not sure how true and accurate it is) the colours are based on the countries involved in the First World War.

I thought i’d seen all of ‘Frozen’ but obviously not (or i was so bored i slipped into a coma and missed it). Turns out there is a song in it called ‘Let It Go’ which is very well known – the below video amassing 489,981,260 views as of posting. Its a pretty awful song.

The state in which I live is 2nd in terms of drivers most likely to hit a deer in the road.*

The buggers are everywhere. I see herds of them foraging within 10 yards of the PA Turnpike every night on my way home. One night after work, I was down in the parking garage walking to my car and saw two fawns right behind the chain link fence – and I work in the city of Philadelphia.

*Full disclosure: I actually learned this yesterday. Should we change the topic title to ‘Things We Learned Fairly Recently’?

I learnt that these muscle pains can travel around to different parts of the body from day to day!

Because I NEVER do, I MADE myself watch and listen to current Pop Music last weekend. There is, I’m sure, a factory where they crank out this stuff. Pre-produced, pre-arranged baby food. Then they find somebody who is rilly rilly cuute who can also sell makeup & shoes. Here. Try to sing this. We’ll fix all mistakes. You’ll only have to lip-synch from now on and toss your hair around.

I knew this has been going on for awhile, but watching it was spine chilling. It’s really bad. No creativity. No sweat. It’s all like a bad Vegas show with background dancers flopping all over the place.

Learned my lesson. There’s great music on the web that never gets showcased on these nasty shows or on the radio. Sad for the kids who think all that Xeroxed crap is all there is.

The Beatles were a shot in the arm when they came to America. Pop music woke up, thought a little harder, wrote a little slower. Whenever I hear a jingle jangle guitar, I’m glad that somebody took the time to pick one up and learn how to play.

So, yeah. Things we learned today…me, I’m just a lucky guy….

AppleScruffJunior barked despite not actually being a dog

I also learned that Americans and Canadians write “tidbits” while the rest of the English-speaking world spell it as “titbits”- (I was going to make a dirty joke there but I didn’t, I’m exercising self-control at the moment).

OH NO YOU DIDN’T

Thanks for informing me of that though, I really needed to know. *feverishly takes note of the alternate spellings*

I learned that Little Girl learned how to knit.

I learned that I don’t know what a nostalgia filter is. I’m looking forward to learning, though.

Yesterday , I learned that a 2 1/2 hour drive to the office and a 16 oz. coffee can motivate me to run into the building like a bull through the streets of Pamplona.

I learned that George used his little finger to play bottleneck slide guitar. For some reason I’d always imagined him using his middle or pointer finger– I dunno why. But on further review, it makes sense– he wouldn’t have any other fingers getting in the way of his slide fabosity.
