1. There was a game show based on Scrabble that aired from 1984 to 1990. It briefly reappeared in 1993.

2. Kinder eggs are apparently going to become available in the United States next year.

And we know this from the extensive trials performed on brave volunteers who endured excess body hair growth, warlike instincts and banana cravings in the name of science…

Birds are largely insensitive to the effects of capsaicin, the component that makes hot peppers hot. Because of this, birds can eat hot peppers with ease, thereby spreading the seeds.

Just finished learning the guitar solo. I haven’t perfected it yet but I can get through it. I’m riding so high right about now. a-hard-days-night-john-1

It’s the fastest (and Pageyest a-hard-days-night-john-6) solo I’ve learnt yet, so it’s an accomplishment for me as speed hasn’t been my strength thus far. paul-mccartney-thumb_gif

In the United States, 50,000 lobotomies were performed, primarily between 1949 and 1952. (Source)

According to the Almighty Wikipedia:

…the three Nordic countries of Finland, Norway, and Sweden had a combined figure of approximately 9,300 lobotomies.  Scandinavian hospitals lobotomized 2.5 times as many people per capita as hospitals in the US.  Sweden lobotomized at least 4,500 people between 1944 and 1966, mainly women. This figure includes young children.  In Norway, there were 2,500 known lobotomies.

I’ll try to learn about something less awful and depressing next time.

Okay, now for something less dark.

1. Two computer scientists have developed an AI that can recognize potential “That’s What She Said” jokes.  They named it Double Entendre via Noun Transfer or DEviaNT.

2. Captcha stands for Completely Automated Public Turing Test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

The “clay” dots used in Fender Stratocasters from 1959 until 1964 aren’t clay at all, it’s white vulcanized fiberboard.

In the US state of Wisconsin the word whose spelling is most often searched for on the interweb is…

Wisconsin

google.jpgImage Enlarger

(For the two yellow states, the spelling sought is for “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.)

On another note, if you spell stressed backwards you have something that may help you feel less stressed.

The idea that drinking heavily causes a person to forget what they did when drunk is actually somewhat of a misconception. In reality, heavy intoxication temporarily renders the brain incapable of forming new memories in the first place.

The name ‘Sadie’ originated as a diminutive form of ‘Sarah’ (except that it’s much cooler), which means ‘princess’. How very apt. heart
