I had a numbered copy of the White Album (8xx,xxx), but it was well worn, and disappeared one time when I was homeless and sleeping from couch to couch. I just bought my son, a beatles fan and vinyl collector, Revolver on the Parlophone label. Not having much luck finding the info, was wondering if anyone knows if this is the British or American release? Thanks! That’s a UK release… US would be on Capitol
Thank you! I’m thinking that’s a “better” collectible than the US version, at least over here in the states. Would I be right in that regard? I’d just like to tell him the approximate value so he’ll take appropriate care of it (which of course is, the standard “good” material cover and sleeve if necessary, keeping it upright above the floor, doubt he could control the humidity, cool dark place if possible…) – the ad didn’t say if it had the inside sleeve and I haven’t gotten it yet.

I’ve got Sgt. Pepper on vinyl and a clear-colored “This Boy ” 45 on vinyl which I will get framed and hang on my office wall one day when I’m motivated enough.
So lucky. I love clear/differently-colored vinyl. Even though I got rid of most of my collection with this latest decluttering, I kept all of my colored vinyl. I once saw this in the 90s, and it was $100 at the time. I was so tempted, but buying it literally would have meant not paying rent.

I found that 45 at a yard sale years ago. The guy only wanted $3 for it, too. I was tempted to tell him how much it could be worth, considering he had never played it and it was in excellent condition, but didn’t want to press my luck. I got that, an original first-release VHS copy of the first WrestleMania, and a garish ’70s-style lamp, all of which now reside in my office to this very day.

I have very recently got into collecting records. On Saturday I spent a shed-load in a local record shop. I bought a copy of Venus And Mars (with the stickers and posters), an original 1988 Choba B CCCP (the Russian album), Pink Floyd’s Meddle, Ticket To Ride single and 7 other Paul McCartney singles.
I already owned Beatles Greatest, Wings Greatest (both were my grandads) and Wings over America.
My dad also gave me his red and blue albums.

It probably is a better collectable… As shown here there are different variations so each one is probably worth a different amount, you can check it out once you receive it. When they re-released the vinyls in 2012 they tried to make it as accurate as they were for their original release, and they chose yellow Parlophone (pictured below), so I assume thats the most common, although I’m not sure.

One of the guys at my local record store put aside Wings Over America for me… love it! And I just got Wings Greatest a few days ago when they got the new collection in and it still had the poster!
I feel like I saw Choba B CCCP , but I didn’t get it so maybe not…

There’s a record fair on near me at the beginning of April, so I’m hoping toe expand my collection a bit more. I own all the Beatles albums, so it’s mostly other artist’s I’m after.
@Matt Busby our White Album ‘s must be quite close in number, I’m sure mine starts in eight. It’s a shame you lost yours though, have you no idea where you left it? It’ll probably turn up on ebay some day.

I just missed a record fair by me, but I believe there’s another’s one in the summer.
I haven’t been able to find a first pressing White Album , besides online, and I love the White Album so I’ve been looking for that… and I haven’t found any UK Beatles albums yet…

@Mr. Kite
I got mine online, too. It’s in fairly good condition, though. The cover is a bit battered but the sound is great. I think I’ve played it once or twice, and that’s it. I want to keep it that way for as long as possible.
I’m surprised you haven’t found any UK albums (actually, are you in the UK?). If you’re not then that could be why, I suppose. I come across loads over here.

@fabfouremily I still don’t have a White Album because I’m hoping to find it in person, the only vinyls ive bought online are the 2012 reissues of Revolver and Abbey Road .
And I’m in the US, so thats why… But I’ve found odd ones, a really good quality Japanese pressing of AHDN on Apple, and a Brazilian, I believe, Let It Be . Sadly no UK!

^ Ah okay, sorry. That explains that then. Well if you ever come over you know to leave plenty of space in your luggage! I think I bought the first four lp’s, decent quality, for about £12 (which is about $19). Quite a bargain!

I have to admit I’m a bit jealous of people who have found rare items at garage sales. People in LA seem to know the value of such things, and they’re more likely to sell them on ebay or the local record store. There again, if I’d had much luck, I’d have much more to get rid of now.

Definitely will remember that! Sadly don’t think I’ll be traveling far anytime soon, but I’ve always wanted to go to the UK as I’m part Welsh… Are you on the mainland?

I’m not sure if that was aimed at me, but I’ve never bought anything at a car boot sale. It’s really not that rare to find such deals round here. Lucky for me, I know. Would it make any difference if you shopped out of town?

Oh, it wasn’t, I probably should have made the comment earlier in the thread. I meant things like that clear vinyl “This Boy ” – I always hear such stories, but never in LA. And now I’m trying to get rid of stuff, so I wouldn’t be looking even outside of town anymore. I used to make a point of going used record shopping in every city I visited, including London and Paris.

I’ve always been confused because that part of my family is Irish/Welsh and I don’t know where they came over from… I’m choosing to assume Wales because I feel like that’s as close to Beatley as I can get… Although still not very close, but you get what I’m saying… Hopefully…

I did! I’m a fan of Japan and David Sylvian, and other related solo artists, and I found quite a bit for them during two different trips to London and Cambridge. And in Paris, I found a couple of Tears for Fears CDs. This is one store I found near the Sorbonne.
Sadly, I’m pretty sure all those stores, except for the big ones like HMV and FNAC, are gone now.

Actually, looking it up, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Crocodisc store in Paris is still around, as is Sister Ray in London.
