Shipping is apparently a little pricey but this still seems like a good offer. Plenty of other Beatles vinyl reductions on that link too.

Silly Dad got us two records at an antique shop near his work. One is the Red Album , and the other is one I’ve not heard of called ‘Silver Beatles vol. 2’. The tracklist is as follows:
Side one
- Searchin’
- Take Good Care Of My Baby
- Money
Side two
- To Know Him Is To Love Him
- Three Cool Cats
- September In The Rain
- Crying, Waiting, Hoping
Anyone know anything about this? I don’t think it’s official.
Edit: After some Googling I found a picture:

I believe its a less than semi-legal release of seven of the Decca audition tracks and, taking a guess, probably released in the late 70’s. Definitely not official. The first official release of the Decca tracks (and then only five of the fifteen recorded) was on ‘Anthology 1 ‘.

1982.
Volume 1 contained:
- (Side one) Three Cool Cats
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Besame Mucho
- The Sheik of Araby
- (Side two) Till There Was You
- Searchin’
- Sure to Fall
I’m not sure why there was some overlap with the songs.

Is it an extended single? 7 tracks would run for little more than 15 minutes.
Was it not down to not wanting to get hassles over publishing rights that they didnt use the Lennon-McCartney originals so they only had twelve to play with? I have that as a vague memory.

I’m staying at my grandparents’ house and my uncle, who knows I’m a Beatles fan, asked a friend to lend him some old record for me to listen. The albums are Help !, Let It Be , Please Please Me and The Beatles For You, which was only published in Uruguay in late 1964 and is like a collection of singles up to that year. For some reason Please Please Me and The Beatles For You have the same photo on the cover, only changing the colour of the rectangle where the name is. Either way, I really like them.
It’s my first time listening to vinyl and it’s great .

A little history…
The first “barely-legal” release of the Decca audition was by Audiofidelity Enterprises in the UK.
Coming out on 10 September 1982, The Complete Silver Beatles (AFELP 1047) featured 12 of the 15 tracks, avoiding the three Lennon/McCartney originals in an attempt not to see themselves sued (as mmm suggested above).
SIDE 1: Three Cool Cats / Crying, Waiting, Hoping / Besame Mucho / Searchin’ / Sheik of Araby / Money
SIDE 2: To Know Him Is to Love Him / Take Good Care of My Baby / Memphis / Sure to Fall / Till There Was You / September in the Rain
AFE also controlled the Star Club recordings at that time. These they released in various configurations between 1981 and 1984 on their Audiofidelity Enterprises and Phoenix Records labels — Early Beatles (1) / (2) / The Beatles Historic Sessions [double LP] / Rare Beatles / Historic Sessions (which was a 3LP box that included the Star Club recordings and the Decca audition).
Your release is a 1983 Canadian release.
The one that always made me laugh for misrepresentation was this Danish picture disc from 1982:

So, I was listening to some of my 45s a while ago and some of them ended just fine (with it ending at the end of the song with no skipping or anything and the needle arm thingy moving to the inner thingy and stopping afterwards like it normally does), but some of them played and then as the end of the song neared they just immediately went meoop and stopped.
Does anyone know why some of my 45s do this/don’t do this and if I can fix it if it’s a fixable thing?

The special few in my collection I have is this:
Abbey Road (misaligned apple/personally bought on my trip to England)
Long Tall Sally (first pressing brought in a shop on Mathew Street, Liverpool)
The Beatles vs. The Four Seasons (unmarked and very clean/most expensive record bought to date)
I have at least one copy of all US vinyl records, except Yellow Submarine right now.

No idea where I got them from but I have odd Japanese, Indian, Spanish and German Beatles singles/EPs. I also have bizarre Buddy Holly singles and EP’s which I’ve no idea where they came from.

I can’t believe I forgot to post this, but about two or three months ago (I KNOW I KNOW) a friend gave me three Beatles LPs she found somewhere– Meet The Beatles, Help! (US), and Yesterday… and Today. Yes, they’re all Capitol ones, and no, I don’t actually have a turntable (so I can’t tell you what the audio quality is like, as I haven’t played them), but even so, ’tis absolutely fabulous to actually have vinyl records. I have them proudly displayed upon my wall.
and also

Well, I’ve got a turntable now, so I’ve been playing them… they’re mostly in pretty good condition, as I can tell– in fact, Silver Beatles was in mint condition until yesterday evening.
I do believe I have well and truly been bitten by the vinyl bug. MUST ACQUIRE MORE RECORDS

I didn’t have a working turntable for close to 20 years — when the belt on my old Technics gave up the ghost, I didn’t have a clue where to get another (pre-internet days) but really didn’t care since I was listening exclusively to CDs by then. (That turntable now hangs on the wall of my listening room as an objet d’art, just above a small collection of vintage radios.)
When “USB” turntables showed up a few years back, I decided that it would be good to digitize some of my albums that had never made it to CD, so I bought a new turntable, a traditional one that included a plug-in mixing board and software to get that digitizing work done.
After I started listening to my old records — and some new ones that I’d bought just for the sake of having them — I found out that the real reason I wanted the turntable was to listen to records. I haven’t digitized anything! Haven’t even fooled around with the hardware/software to see how it works. I love my records!

Currently trying to save up for a new record player. The one that I have now is a relic that my dad brought from work. It’s from the 70’s, has one built-in speaker, and sounds kinda poor. Also, the glue on the pad has eroded, so it makes the records a little wobbly. The needle is old too. I guess it gets the job done well enough, but the more my record collection grows and grows, the more I think I need a new one.

If you get one that doesn’t have built in speakers you have to have a phono pre-amp (or it won’t play any sound) also speakers (two is preferable). The pre-amp would need 2 (at least) channel outputs. That’s so you can connect your turntable and speakers.)

Thanks! I think I may have some decent speakers in the basement somewhere. Also, I think I found a turntable that has the pre-amp built in.
