I’m a little late, but to coincide with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, I’ve written a short and incomplete parody of a song using a Pokemon from the last generation, called Skrelp. I hope it’s not been done before. *clears throat*
SKRELP!
I need some Poke’!
SKRELP!
Not just any Poke’!
SKRELP!
You know I need some ‘mon!
SKREEEELP!

Speaking of Pokemon Sun/Moon, my friend challenged me to make a team of Pokemon named after the Beatles. So far I have:
- Ringo the smeargle, because they’re little artists with big, adorable noses.
- John the Alolan meowth, because they look so smug.
- George the Alolan rattata, because I immediately thought of him upon seeing the silly mustaches they have.
Hopefully I come across a Pokemon worthy of being named Paul soon enough.

Thinking about video games, I wonder what video games you guys grew up on. For me, it was the late 70’s/early 80’s arcade games like Pac Man, Galaxian, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Ms. Pac Man, Dig Dug, Mario Bros., and of course the Star Wars game where you’re in a cockpit
Also had an Atari 2600 which sucked, although it had some good games. Then I got the Commodore 64, which was the s**t back in 1983, and got to play better versions of games like Pac Man and Pitfall then my friends who were still using Atari. Then I got the NES (a New York test market model actually) with Gyromite, Duck Hunt, and Super Mario Bros. back in 1985 and I was hooked the second I plugged that b*****d in to my TV.

I was born in ’99, so I grew up on my hand me down windows 98 computer with the Jump Start games when I was like 2. My first real video game was Myst, when I was like 4 as well as Riven the sequel. I also played Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 a lot. When I was on elementary school, I played a bunch of free flash games online from various websites. When the Wii came out I ended up getting one, and played lots of Lego Indiana Jones, Batman, and Star Wars. I also played this one Sims game that I can’t remember what it’s called. In middle school I got introduced to Minecraft, which became a lot of my videogame playing at that time. Eventually towards the end of middle school I was introduced to Steam and the valve game, specifically TF2, and eventually the Half-Life/Portal series.

It’s sure got to suck being born then, as you missed out on so many things. Sure, you can learn about them through your parents, but there’s nothing quite like going to the theatre to see Star Wars or to play Pac Man for the first time when it was brand new or to sneak out of the house as a 10 year old to see Queen live at the Madison Square Garden on their News Of The World tour. Personally, I don’t like a lot of modern games, although I must say that there are a few (such as New Super Mario Bros Wii or Guitar Hero III or Star Wars The Force Unleashed) that are pretty good. It’s kind of funny that you knew how to use a computer at 2. I tried to teach my friend how to use a computer when he was in his 30’s and he couldn’t use it for the life of him.

Yeah it does kinda suck to not grow up with those older games. My parents were children before the video game craze, however my mom talks about how she went to see Star Wars like 5 times as a kid. She’s told this story where the local theatre wanted to grab this other movie that was popular at the time, but instaid they ended up disappointed when they got “some space movie” or Star Wars. But then because they got the first one, they automatically got all the sequels.
As far as video games right now, I don’t particularly like many new video games. They newest game I have in my library is Portal 2 (unless you count the 2014 realMyst Masterpiece which technically doesn’t count because it’s basically the original with better graphics). I like looking on abandonedware sites for old emulators and games to play. Recently I got my hands on Paul’s Give My Reguards to Broad Street C64 game.

How old are your parents because it seems like they were 35 when they had you by the way you’re describing them.
They were 43 and 36 when they had me and I was their first.

I’m a council gamer so I first started gaming with the Magnavox Odyssey. I had problems with the paper but the gun accessories and shooting gallery were fun.
Then I got into some of the Atari games like pacman, space invaders and such but I liked frogger the most.
Then after the video game crash, I got an SNES and mainly used it to play super Mario and Duck Hunt.
I kept going down Nintendo more and got the N64, I also got a sega Genesis and played some Sonic and that one Aladdin game, Jeopardy stopped working which stinks. I liked SSB and Kirby and the crystal shard and Mario 64.
I did play some computer games like doom and the Elder scrolls.
I got a Gameboy and started down the poképath.
Then I got the GameCube and played loads of Sonic (didn’t get Dreamcast) and ssbm.
Got a PlayStation two and played it some, got sonic on it and that need for speed game.
Then I got and Xbox 360 and got the portal games, halo, more sonic, gears of war and some more elder scrolls games.
Got the Wii and Wii U and got only two Wii U games and a handful of Wii games. SSB was one I got for both.

You said SNES when you meant to say NES and forgot about the classic late 70’s/early 80’s arcade games like Pac Man and Galaga. Also, you’re older than I thought since the Magnavox Odyssey was released in 1972 and since you don’t have permanent memories until you’re 4, you were born in 1968 or earlier. And here I was thinking you were some girl born in the 90’s.

For me, the video games I consider nostalgic are the classic arcade titles like Space Invaders, Galaxian, and Pac Man. Also, if you want to play the Star Wars arcade game more romantically, here’s some advice. So both you and your girl (or if you’re a girl, you and your man) get into the unit and you pretend to be Luke Skywalker while your girl pretends to be Princess Leia (or vice versa if your a female) and when you get a victory, celebrate it. I used to do this with my wife whenever we were not with our kids and stumbled across a sit down Star Wars arcade cabinet.
