Third chemo today of this first course, one more to go. Last week I’ve felt pretty s***e. First time I haven’t just curled up and slept for days after. No doubt it’ll hit me later.
It’s lousy. Sleep. Vomit. Defecate. Sleep. Vomit. Defecate. Occasionally eat.
At least the next round is fortnightly rather than weekly. At the moment, as soon as I start to get back together, there’s another dose the next day. It’ll give me more time to recover. Though I don’t feel as rough right now as I have at this time after the previous two. Sure to come on like rolling thunder later though.
Apologies to anyone whose PMs or emails I haven’t been able to respond to.
One more week and I get a two/three week break before I’m dragged back in kicking and screaming!
Lost my first big chunk of hair yesterday. Thinking of taking the clippers to my head and going bald. This cold cap thing I’m having to wear during the treatment is meant to help prevent, but it’s real fecking s***e to wear, and leaves me with a real banging headache. Time to go bald I think!

My mum considered the ice cap thing, until she saw what a hassle it was. So, she opted to just go bald, too. She never regretted it. Her hair grew back thicker, and with the curls she last had when she was a young girl. So there’s that!
I hope the new treatment won’t make you feel as miserable, RN. It sucks enough having to go through it all without camping out in the loo. I do like the suggestion of a Beatles wig, though. Do they still make those? If so, I want one!
Feel better soon, la’!

Thanks all.
I’m not actually bothered by the thought of going bald. It’ll be far from the first time. I tend to let my hair grow long, and then when it gets too bothersome in hot weather, shave the whole lot off.
Attempting to hang onto it through the treatment was more an act of defiance than anything else. A little sad it’s not to be but winning the bigger battle is more important.
If I were a wig man, @Ahhh Girl, The Beatles wig would be a great idea, but not quite as great as the more appropriate…

It’s good news that you’ll be getting a break after today. Even though you feel lousy now, so does the inside of you that’s shrinking away!! Years ago a friend of mine going through radiation/chemo gave up on the ice cap as well. We temporarily cut his hair into a mohawk and took some pictures, adding a little makeup to complete the look. Now 12 years later we see those pictures and roll on the floor laughing.

So, haven’t posted here in a while. I didn’t bother with a commentary on the second round of chemo because it was really just more the same.
At the end of it I was told it looked successful but that I would have to wait until the three months test to know how successful. Well, that happens on Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll have good news for all.
