Well, I’m hoping for not too much absence, @Ahhh Girl, if any. Just got to see how this hits me.

It’s just gone 3 in the morning where I am. I’m meant to be sleeping, today’s a big day, but I can’t sleep.
S**t-scared (excuse my French) about what’s ahead of me. You hear so many stories about chemo.
Feck x infinity.

Oh, @Starr Shine?, I know I need to go through it to stay alive. It’s the going through it that scares me. I’ve been prepared for it being unpleasant. I’ve been prepared for the idea of losing my hair (though I’m told I’ll be wearing this thing called a cold cap that’s meant to try and stop that). I know I have to do it, but it doesn’t change the fear of what it’s going to do to me over the next few weeks, and how it’s going to make me feel.
I can only hope it doesn’t feck me too hard!

Leaving for the hospital in about 15 minutes for my 1st couple of hours of chemo. Have The Waterboys Fisherman’s Blues boxset lined-up to listen to during. Hope to post later, but no promises. See you all soon.

I work in a cancer center. I am not a medical professional, though. My advice is to keep a positive attitude and stay active. I have noticed that those who do this often fare better.

Yip. That is the approach we took when my father was diagnosed, not that he fared better sadly. However it did make his time as enjoyable as possible I believe instead of letting it get him down.

Wish I could be there with you, RN. I know you’d still be scared, but maybe just a tiny bit less.

Even if we can only be with you in spirit RN, hopefully we can use the forum to help make the next few months fly by. There is a lot of medicine available now to treat the chemo symptoms and I trust that you and your MD will find the right one. I attended a support group once with an ill friend. The group was lead by an oncologist, a therapist, and a new age minister. They talked a lot about what it means to “fight” against your individual cancer. They also taught a visualization technique that you might find of use (assuming you are not already attending a group like this). Yes some people there had crystals (I know that is silly to a lot of folks) but that same cosmic energy is inside of us all and it can be harnessed to do all sorts of good. Btw-I took your request to heart and made a donation to the local Ronald McDonald House. Madame Butterfly and I volunteer there a few days a month and they really do wonderful support work for families with ill children. So hanging in the playroom with the other February donations is a placard displaying Ronald McDonald’s face with the name RON NASTY proudly written beneath .
