I prefer the Nancy Sinatra version –I like it; I didn’t like Cher’s.

The Three Stooges: Louis “Larry” Feinberg or Jerome Lester “Curly” Horwitz?

What’s wrong lads and lassies? Is there no love for The Three Stooges in the Forum? Or is everybody so young (kids, in one word) that they have never seen them? And what’s happening to the Old Guard? C’mon people, somebody choose and post another question! Let’s keep on playing…!

I’ve only seen very short clips of them in other tv programmes and to be honest from those clips the humour bypassed me. Some slapstick amuses me, some doesnt.

Curly

I’ve seen some of the shorts. They can be funny from time to time. My husband loves them. :)

Willy Wonka. Charlie was a little brat who i would happily have seen go thru those fans in the film.

I like the Alps, I think. I mean I don’t know much about either (other than that they’re mountains, of course), but Alps sounds cool. So alps.

Arctic Monkeys or The Monkees?

The Ted Okuda/Edward Watz-penned book The Columbia Comedy Shorts puts the Stooges’ legacy in critical perspective:

“Many scholarly studies of motion picture comedy have overlooked the Three Stooges entirely – and not without valid reasoning. Aesthetically, the Stooges violated every rule that constitutes “good” comedic style. Their characters lacked the emotional depth of Charlie Chaplin and Harry Langdon; they were never as witty or subtle as Buster Keaton. They were not disciplined enough to sustain lengthy comic sequences; far too often, they were willing to suspend what little narrative structure their pictures possessed in order to insert a number of gratuitous jokes. Nearly every premise they have employed (spoofs of westerns, horror films, costume melodramas) has been done to better effect by other comedians. And yet, in spite of the overwhelming artistic odds against them, they were responsible for some of the finest comedies ever made. Their humor was the most undistilled form of low comedy; they were not great innovators, but as quick laugh practitioners, they place second to none.”

I’m with Captain Blackadder in regards to Chaplin (you can watch it here – from around the 1 minute mark til 4 minutes in; i’d just let it play from the off):

I find his films about as funny as getting an arrow through the neck and then discovering there’s a gas bill tied to it.

Haven’t seen Keaton so will opt for him.

Laurel or Hardy?

Wise choice @meanmistermustard. Keaton (you should check him some time) was creative and funny, and he performed amazing stunts. Sometimes his sense of humor was even surreal (and some scenes would be regarded as politically incorrect or insensitive these days, which for me is a plus). Chaplin was cheap and demagogic. People say he was a genius but I agree with Captain Blackadder: he was a genius because he invented a way to be paid a million dollars a year for wearing a pair of funny trousers.

Bud Spencer –I’ll always go for the big, strong, fat, ugly guy and not the cute one (a matter of identification)

What do you mean “for the ladies”?

Connery. A) he can act reasonably okay whilst Stratham’s range is from plank of wood to overdose of botox and b) he was Bond.

Swimming over bodybuilding.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8

Nut. I like nuts more than i like peas as they are more versatile.

Beatles Fiction or Beatles Non-Fiction?
