Anyone ever tried looking into the Fabs’ names? I did, and it is really quite interesting.
- John means ‘God ‘s mercy’– naught much to do with anything.
- Paul means ‘small’, ironic as the Beatles are bigger than Jesus– but maybe Jesus is even smaller than Paul. James is more interesting– it means ‘supplanter’, which is what James Paul did to John’s unofficial leader status. If that makes sense. PWT.
- George means ‘farmer’:
- Ringo means ‘wearer of rings’ Ne, seriously, Richard means ‘illustrious ruler’ or some such thing.
And while I was there:
- Yoko means ‘determined woman’. How appropriate.
- Linda means ‘snake’, only in a good way
- Olivia means olive (of course). A symbol of peace– hmm, interesting…
- Pattie, short for Patricia, female form of Patrick, means ‘aristocrat’.
- Maureen is a form of Mary which I don’t know the meaning of.
- Barbara means ‘foreign’.
- Nancy is a form of Anne (I think) which means ‘God ‘s grace’ or something like that.
So, yep, an interesting study. I like names.

Pretty much any female name beginning with ‘Mar-‘, Mary, Maureen, Mariah etc. mean ‘bitter’.
Poor Jesus’ mam, I don’t think she was that bitter myself
Here’s another interesting fact: If you meet an Irish woman older than 50*, you have an extremely high chance in saying that her name is ‘Mary’ or that their middle-name is ‘Mary’, we were a very unoriginal country, now we’ve got Beyoncés, Rihannas and Pocahontases, running around the place……t’is great .
*Same goes for a man, they’re probably called either ‘John’, ‘Seán’ or ‘Patrick/Paddy’.

^ In the Philippines it’s about 90% Maria’s – with multiple members of the family so-named. To the extent that they frequently concatenate the name with their second name so they can distinguish betwen sisters.
So Maria Cecilia is Maricel
Maria Teresa is Marites
Maria Lourdes is Marilou
Or they use unusal nicknames for the same effect.
Maria Grace becomes Gigi?
Hmm, I wonder, does anyone call @HongKongLady Marivic?

Back when I was in sixth grade, there were two kids in my year named Adam Miller. I think I may have even had a class with both of them.

The real question is, how do you talk to one of them when they’re both around? Do you pull a “thing 1, thing 2” and start calling them “Adam 1, Adam 2”?
