I saw like 10 minutes of it on TV once, and even that was too much.

Got Cloud Atlas on DVD finally. Gonna watch it this weekend.I will never understand why that movie didn’t do better, it boggles my mind.
I’m (hopefully) going to get the book for Christmas, then I’ll see the film afterwards because Jim Sturgess *drools*

Avatar never appealed to me. Wasn’t it one of the first big movies available in 3D so everyone rushed to see?
There was 3D movies before like Jaws 3D

Was Jaws 3D that big tho? Certainly 3D has come on leaps and bounds since the 70’s as there was a whole big thing about how it would revolutionise the entertainment industry, something that has once again failed to happen so far.
Anyone remember the film where folk are seen watching Jaws3D?

But, Avatar was the like big 3D movies. Soon after, everything started coming in 3D. Things that did not need to be 3D or barely had 3D were coming out.
I admit the thing that attracted me to Avatar was the 3D. The story plot was ok. Had my husband’s friends dragged me to see it in regular 2D I probably would not have been as entertained especially for a three hour movie.

Reading the article on wiki and i thought it was the original Jaws in 3D wherein its actually the third Jaws film in 3D.

Movies I have chosen not to see:
- Avatar
Movies I regret seeing:
- Inception
I agree with you @LongHairedLady, Avatar is garbage (I saw it on TV and didn’t pay a cent that’s why I’m not angry I saw it). As for Inception, it was a huge disappointment. I recommend Christopher Nolan’s first two movies, Following (1998), and Memento (2000). Both of them are masterpieces.

Memento (2000).
Great choice, sir. That is one of the most brilliantly written films I’ve ever seen. Once I realized what was happeneing with the sequencing, I was mesmerized. It’s the first and only film that ever made me yell out to a character “don’t do it!!!”.

Somewhere In Time is a movie that has a hold of me and won’t let go. I only saw it once.
What did you see in it, @Ahhh Girl, that attracted you so much? I dimly remember it as a slow movie with a cloying romantic plot and a vague fantastic element. No offense intended, I just want to know.

After his first two movies Nolan’s career, in my opinion started to go downhill, and became more and more mainstream, losing its originality.

The sinking feeling in my heart when he found that penny and came back to “his” time. I remember the feeling of utter hopelessness for him as he tried so desperately to go back in time. My heart still pounds and my arms go weak every time I think of those two scenes.

I saw it. Don’t recall much about it. I think there was an airplane in it. Perhaps I should revisit it.

Well, I’ll be… If everything you can remember is that there was a plane in it, then…! I’m speechless! A love story framed during World War II with the pathos of a Greek Tragedy and all you remember is a plane!

Oh, yeah, I just remembered that it reminded me a lot of the movie Out of Africa. Can’t remember why though.
EDIT: and I think it is more than just “they both had a plane”.

I just saw last night In Bruges. It was an excellent film. Funny, interesting, and heartbreaking. The story was well written, and IMHO Colin Farrell’s best performance I’ve seen of him so far. And Ciaran Hinds in a cameo ..*sighs*
And there’s a Beatle moment on it : Colin’s character beats up the hell of an “American” guy telling him “And this is because of John Lennon !!”
Mom and I checked In Bruges out of the library today. We just finished watching it. As soon as I pressed stop, I had to see if anyone had mentioned on the forum the John Lennon thing that was in the movie. Collin Farrell decks a guy who he thinks is an American and says “that’s for John Lennon “. Farrell is playing the part of person from Dublin. Later on he finds out that the guy he hit is from Canada. He says “Canadian. They didn’t kill John Lennon .” (~quotes are approximate)

I have seen In Bruges, @mithveaen and I’ve seen A Clockwork Orange, @The John, and I consider them both masterpieces –different genres, but both masterpieces nonetheless.
