Recently, I have watched the Peter Sellers film The Party (1968) and the Ryan Gosling film Lars and The Real Girl (2007). As creepy as the latter one sounds and looks at first, It’s actually very charming and moving.
Haven’t seen the latter but the former is probably the last time anyone will black up for comedy in a major film. It’s a shame because the premise is quite funny. Saw Dunkirk (2017), quite disappointing, managing to be less interesting than Interstellar. I can do without half a movie of shots of water with dun dun dunnn music thanks. The Shining (US cut 1980) is still as freaky as I remember, and the extra scenes that I hadn’t seen until now were fine, I’m mystified about them being cut for the international release.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Hermione Emma Watson presented the best picture award at the BAFTAs last night. It’s nice to see her looking so happy. I though she seemed a little down on the 20th reunion special.
Btw @AppleScruffJunior, the movie Belfast won (which was written and directed by Professor Gilderoy Lockhart Kenneth Branagh).

I’ve yet to see Belfast, most Irish (and from Belfast) people I know who’ve seen it have said it’s quite twee and not that great a representation but I wouldn’t know so .

I haven’t seen it yet either. In the US it’s only streaming on AppleTV which I don’t have. I’m a fan of Branagh’s work, so I’m sure I’ll see it eventually. On another subject, I was sorry to read that the producers of Normal People have been unable to come up with a script for a season 2. I loved the first few high school themed episodes in County Sligo.

That’s a shame as I did enjoy the series during the initial lockdown in 2020.

Did anyone ever see No Time To Die? Remember a few years ago there was a lot of 007 discussion on the forum and many of us were looking forward to seeing it. When I saw Remi Malek at the Academy Awards, I flashed that no one ever mentioned seeing it. I haven’t returned to the theatre and it hasn’t started streaming yet. Just wondering…

Yes, I saw it and now own the Blu-Ray. Liked it for the most part, but still not sold on the ending.
Hoping they choose a suitable actor for the next era.

Once. When it came out. As a long-time Bond fan, I just don’t care. I guess this is the film that really managed to make me lose my interest in contemporary Bond films…

I know what you mean. For many years it was a family tradition (starting with Goldfinger at the drive-in when I was 10) to see the Bond movies on opening weekend. The tradition ended after Casino Royale. Don’t exactly know why, but for sure the young people had less interest. They much preferred the new tradition of seeing the Potter movies on opening night.

I’ve hardly watched any Bond films ever, but do think it’s kinda cool that “Goldfinger” features 007 making an anti-Beatles joke; and simultaneously co-stars actor Richard Vernon, who played the disgruntled train gent in AHDN . (He must’ve filmed the two roles within weeks of one another.)

I forgot about that reference VB. Now that’s being famous to have a mention in a Bond film!

I saw No Time To Die at the cinema with my Nanna and my brother. We all enjoyed it and the title track by Billie Eilish was brilliant.
You know what, just discussing it a little has sparked my interest again. Gonna have to go seek the movie out soon (Heading back home from my Mom’s place later today. Fams trip to Disneyland went great). I liked the Billie song too (It’s so weird how long ago it came out.)

I honestly thought No Time To Die was the best Craig Bond
That would be Quantum of Solace.
I hate to be that guy, but as a fan, I feel like the last few films and especially NTTD really started to undermine the Bond phenomenon and to weaken my interest in future development of the series.

@Rube I thought this was an interesting article that contrasts Beatlemania era concerts with the current pandemonium Billie Eilish fans are experiencing.
