I saw it in Monday. I thought it was okay. I didn’t feel like I was watching Star Wars though. The only time I heard the Star Wars theme song was at the end.

I was considering seeing it tomorrow but considering how bad The Force Awakens came out, I doubt that there will be a new good Star Wars movie released.

Here’s a question: what was the first R movie you ever saw. For me, as far as in the theatres, my dad took me too see Alien when I was 12. My mom told him that it was too scary for me and that I would have nightmares, but I liked it and wasn’t scared at all. Around the time I was 13, my father took me with a couple of his war buddies to see Apocalypse Now, another great film.
For many years in Ontario in the 70s and 80s, film censorship was ridiculous, thanks to this silly head of the Ontario Censor Board named Mary Brown. Theatrical films were occasionally edited or banned entirely, and “Restricted” meant no-one under 18 was permitted at all, with or without parent/guardian. So I guess the first R-rated film I saw was “The Deer Hunter” in ’81, when WKBD-TV in Detroit showed it uncut. I would’ve been 14.
(Weirdly, though, you’d occasionally see nudity on late-night Canadian TV stations during the same era. For what that’s worth.)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

And to think I thought Canada had it easy because they actually rated their movies realistically, such as rating Disney movies G instead of PG and rating superhero movies PG instead of PG-13 and also rating films that were rated G here despite the fact that they aren’t suitable for young children PG, such as Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/….._the_Grave).

Your missing out, unless R rated in Australia is like X rated her which in that case, you are good.

I’m not someone who often sheds a tear but I watched A Monster Calls last night and I’ve never blubbered so much during a film. It’s a great film and on the surface looks like a kids film but definitely not for young kids.

All I know about our system of rating is that it changes every two years. And it is stupid.

I’ve just seen Trainspotting for the first time and as a result, I’m still too confused to do anything properly. This was out of question the strangest movie I’ve ever seen but in a positive way. The black humour, the surreal camera perspectives and the Scottish accent were the best part!
Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

Actually, it’s not really a coincidence. I’ve seen an ad on Trainspotting 2 and I asked myself what the hell is Trainspotting (quite embarrassing to not know it, I know)?
Then I watched the first movie and from now on I will not be able to take toilets or beer mugs seriously anymore.

What do you guys think of the new Power Rangers movie, I think it’s going to suck. I’ve been watching the show since I was 4 and when I watched the trailer I noticed something, they have superhuman strength, in the TV show they are shown to have great martial arts skills but they’re not like the hulk, they don’t punch through walls, they wear costumes and fight fairytale monsters with the power of martial arts, street fighting, self defense, weapons, and the megazord which for some stupid reason they don’t use until the enemy grows to the same size as it, I like how The Nostalgia Critic pokes at this by going into the megazord while the enemy is normal sized and squishing him like a bug like the Power Rangers should’ve done.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I just watched Platoon in preparation for a Vietnam War presentation tomorrow. I have seen The Deer Hunter, Full Metal Jacket, and Apocalypse Now as well. Difficult to tell where it ranks among the others, they are all amazing movies.
