Sometimes you look outwards into the world, see what’s happening, and realise just how nice everyone here is. We may not be the largest busiest community but if being so gave us petty arguments, bitching and pathetic one-upmanship, I’ll take what we have here.

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Scotland has beaten England at cricket – which is utterly bizarre to comprehend.

Looks like the Beatles Bible forum is taking a summer nap of late. No doubt people’s real lives are impinging and they have other things to do. I’ve often marveled at how vibrant this forum is on an ongoing basis — when compared with other forums devoted to other musicians and/or musical bands. Unless someone can show me otherwise, I don’t think there exists another forum devoted to any other musicians and/or musical bands that is as dynamic in discussion on an ongoing basis than the Beatles Bible forum. I go into like the Harry Connick Jr. forum, or the Al Jarreau forum, and it seems big and vibrant at first glance, then on closer inspection, I see that hardly anyone has commented anywhere in several weeks (or months). Ditto for the James Taylor forum. Of course, I haven’t done a concerted study of this (send $$$ to my PayPal if you want me to do this…), and I could be wrong. Maybe there exists a Bon Jovi or Justin Bieber forum more active than BB — but somehow, I doubt it. (Even if there was, I’d bet it would be an artificial “designer forum”.)
So anyway, my point is, there is a je ne sais quoi about the Beatles that makes them unique, and that’s reflected in, among other things, the fact of this forum here.

Certainly true in my case… I peep in on the forum several times a day, but I haven’t posted all that much of late due to (accelerated) summer class, preparing to play at a friend’s graduation, and (mostly) my completely out-of-control David Bowie obsession.

Usually I wake up and I have 15-20 unread threads, however as of late I might have 3-8. I had 2 unread threads yesterday.
But I’d far prefer to read a few intelligent posts than a lot of inane ones, and that’s why the BB is something a little more than special.

Thanks Ahhh Girl, I forgot about the Macca Board. I participated in it something like 8 years ago, then just stopped and never went back. I think I’ll take another look.

The forum woke up today, though… the Beatle Birthday effect, and also he’s been sneakily whispershouting about new albumry so all eyes are on the Macca… hence my waking up to a grand total of 14 unread posts!

In response to your post in another thread, @Beatlebug, @Joe could easily have created a new thread that gave him the URL he wanted, and then merged the old thread into it. It’s happened before, and he’s been suggesting that may happen with some ATN threads.
Yes, it might slightly damage his Google rating for a little while, but not irrevocably.
He could also have made it clear long before now that the existing thread would be replaced, which would have seen me making the posts I made in that thread in the news thread instead. The first post of the existing thread said in the first post, and more than once in its duration, that it would see its title changed when the album title was known. Joe never disputed that assertion, nor did any of the mods.
I’ll still be able to give my opinions in song threads for the new songs.

I never gave it any thought, neither do I see it as any reason to get irked over. Makes sense for folk to not have to trawl thru three pages of speculation and such to get to details and discussion of Paul’s new album, especially further down the line.

Not the reasons that Joe gave, @meanmistermustard, nor what happened with the thread for New. You’ve just summed up why I’m annoyed, who will bother to look at the already existing thread – something I’ve put a lot of effort into over the past few days – now they’ve been directed elsewhere?
Had I known it was a dead-end thread I would have not wasted my time, using the News thread instead. While the speculation leading up to the announcement of the New album doesn’t seem to have put anyone off that thread; in fact, most people enter a thread at the most recent post, and then decide if they want to read more.
If threads about speculation on new product are going to be dead-ended from now on (because the title is generally not known for a while), what is the point of anyone bothering with them?

Post in one or the other.
As Joe said,
You’re welcome to carry on posting in the other one if you want. Speculation could continue there until we have firm information, and it can also be used for thoughts about any other future McCartney albums. Think of this as putting a stake in the ground for when we have proper news and info about Egypt Station.
Not every decision and change made on the forum is going to get announced beforehand.
Apologies if you feel you wasted your time but I doubt others feel that you did.

You’re missing my point, @meanmistermustard. I don’t think the speculation should be separated from the firm information. I’m reasonably sure that when Joe said, “You’re welcome to carry on posting in the other one if you want,” he wasn’t suggesting I give my thoughts on the album there. He doesn’t want a split conversation, though that to me is what he’s created. I like the way it was done with New and has been done with Ringo’s albums, that we speculate, that we get firm details, and then we discuss what we think when we get our sweaty little mitts on the release.
In my humble opinion, Joe’s stake in the ground is merely another set of excuses for changing the way the forum has always operated while I’ve been a member, and makes threads speculating on future rumoured releases pointless.

Would it be ok to delete or move (to this thread) posts 2-7 in the Egypt Station thread and post 44 in the New Paul Album thread so that those threads are cleaner and more on-topic?
