Offline Could be worse, a friend of mine who lives near the Queensland/NSW border was bitten on the forehead by a python that had set up house in a space above his front door and his walking out that door must have frightened it. It’s that time of year when snakes look for comfy hibernation holes. He called the snake catcher who wasn’t keen on chasing a python in a roofspace, saying it would probably move on in its own time, fat lot of help he was.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 
but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Canadian wildlife isn’t always particularly polite either, ya know. 
Bears, moose, deer, bobcats, skunks, wasps, hornets, black widow spiders; there’s a lot of potentially harmful critters (though yours are definitely worse 
).
I remember one day in about 5th or 6th grade, I was going home for lunch, and was just about to head up the front steps of my house. Suddenly, a coyote strolls non-chalantly out of the path to our backyard (which goes around to the front yard, close to the front steps). It was cool and all to see one, though I wouldn’t recommend being 5-6 feet from one that doesn’t seem to fear you at all whatsoever. Fortunately, they don’t attack people very often.

Offline Yes, thank god we don’t have bears, although given we went through that settler frontier culture (and some of our farmers still think they are), we probably would have shot them all 40 years ago. But then we’ve added wild pigs, goats, horses, camels, and a variety of smaller vermin to the ecosystem, so there’s that. People go pig/roo-shooting here (not in the cities, that might be unfortunate) and the really crazy ones try to kill them with bows and arrows. There’s definitely a core of frustrated hunters around.

Surely not for the northern hemisphere? Remember, here its the local state government that decides when DST starts and stops and it’s been a wild ride the last few years for us.

DST has always been a political football, from the time it was first introduced. Because the states in Australia are sovereign (meaning, they have more original independence than a US state would have), it’s usually decided by the Premier’s department.
