My world history textbook is really waxing poetical about the richness of India’s culture (ahdn_george_06) and the mystery of Harappan society. ahdn_george_01

Is anyone else watching the eclipse right now? It’s fairly spectacular from Oz. Can anyone see it in America?

The problem with writing any situation wherein both your characters are the same gender is that you have to use their names all the time instead of pronouns because they have the same pronouns. My characters have long, weird names and I’m getting tired of typing ‘Jacquelena’ every other sentence. ahdn_paul_01

I wouldn’t have this problem if I just wrote in first-person, but I don’t want to. a-hard-days-night-paul-11

First person is the superior format.

Also replace he/their names with something descriptive about them.

1. That’s debatable. I prefer third-person, it’s what comes naturally to me in my narratives.
2. I’ve seen where people do that, referring to their characters as ‘the blond guitarist*’ or ‘his friend’ or ‘the girl’, and it bothers me when it’s over-used, so I tend to err on the side of under-using it rather than over-using it.

*Note that this is not a real-life example; when I last saw that, the guitarist in question had dark hair a-hard-days-night-john-6

Then use a mix, names can be used too much and too many him/his can become confusing.

I find I have the problem of said too many times in dialogue tags. I try to switch it up sometimes. Also the placement of the tags I find myself in a rut a few times.

Lately I’ve been writing second person for my text-adventure game.

I like first person. It’s nice. But this is coming from someone who mainly writes scripts so I don’t have too much experience.

The second thing: I never do that. Whenever I read i think it sounds really cheesy.

I forgot that it was happening. As I get older, I find that I care less and less about these things. It seems like a “once in a lifetime astronomical event” happens every month.

Did they play any? Did you request one? Did HKL dance with you if/when they did, @trcanberra?

I’ll be going on the forum a lot less because I’ve lost interest in The Beatles. Don’t get me wrong, i still enjoy listening to their music once in awhile but i feel that i know all there is to know about them and am gaining interest in other things like politics. Don’t worry, i’ll still go on the forum every Now And Then but it might be once a week if even that.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.
