I’ve heard it, and it does seem to be used by religious people here in the states. But we are free to use any word we choose. Words mean different things to different people. For example, when I say “God ” I don’t mean a “man in the sky,” and yet I am still a Christian. And atheists may not have faith in God , but they have faith in other things. For example, they may have faith that their wives or husbands love them, or that the sun will rise tomorrow.

I regularly use the word “passed” but I do not use it to suggest somebody is moving on to an afterlife, just that somebody who was once a part of this world no longer is.A lot of people used the word “passed” with no religious/afterlife beliefs to its use implied.
Since when was it written that by the use of the term “passed” to describe someone’s death you are indicting a belief in an afterlife or a god?
Passed comes from passed away (Which I find to be slightly better than passed, cause with passed, I think of fluids since a dead body will relax upon death). Passed away does have religious origin dating back to the 1300’s from the Lay Folks Mass Book based on my research.
“And rest & pese fat lastis ay
to cristen soules passed away ; 112 “
Though the lack of the use of the word death bothers me more than the religious bases of the words.
(Though it isn’t as bad as left, to me it implies the dead person had a choice in the matter and choose to die)

Don’t think too much about it. Keep in mind, I wrote it after randomly coming up with the idea for the “Free Bird” phrase while I was half asleep in my bed. I wasn’t fully thinking of word choice.

In re: Free Birding. I love the idea, but it sounds too much like ‘Freebird’ by Lynyrd Skynyrd, so I vote the phrase be ‘(artist) has pulled a Free As A Bird ‘. @William Shears Campbell

I suppose you’re right, but the artist doesn’t do it to themselves, because they’re dead*. Someone does it to the artist, or it happens to the artist. I consciously shortened it because saying, “Ollie Halsall was free as a birded into Archeology,” is cumbersome. Saying “Ollie Halsall was free birded into Archeology” is much more efficient.

So I was just texting my cousin about this kid, but instead of responding to her I accidentally texted him, and I think I could die now, because it was kind of rude and it’s super obvious it was about him.
I accidently sent an email discussing problems that existed in a church to the guy who was one of the head church people; it was nothing nasty just laid all the crap going on on the table. The fact he had f**k all idea what was going on and so everything in the email was a surprise says a lot. A lot of folk were talking behind everyone else’s back and so, in my normal tactless manner, I sent an email to someone saying yes these are major problems but instead of all of you bitching about it go and deal with it – but put in the wrong recipient.
My email didn’t go down well with him or many others.
I started a major argument when, totally fed up with people moaning incessantly about everything under the sun, I announced an activity was cancelled immediately. 10 minutes into it, with bullets flying in all directions, I left the room and hid in the kitchen for an hour drinking tea.
I cannot be bothered with bullshit and folk complaining yet failing to do anything about it. Either shut the hell up or go and do something about it; don’t sit there endlessly bitching, moaning and complaining about it expecting me to sit, listen and give a s**t.

I cannot agree more. Unfortunately, my grandmother falls under that category, and she lives next door to me, so I deal with it on a daily basis.

My grandma is a habitual complainer and lets petty things make her really mad. I used to have no patience with her and got annoyed by her for being her, but it doesn’t bother me too much anymore. It’s still annoying, but I try to ignore it, or calm her down/change the subject, and that helps.

I turn off, something I learned in school many years ago. I have the ability to look like I’m paying attention when I’m in fact miles away having no idea what’s being said.

You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but can you tell me why you got banned, it could help us know what not to do on this forum.
Well the first three accounts were all banned because I liked purple grapes too much, and would spread “infantile drivel” all over the forum. Then they realized that my other four accounts were the same person, so those got banned, too. Then I made two more that got banned for being me (and my history of being a “troll”), but this account never got banned. I’m not really sure why… I don’t know if Joe knew it was me at first.

Kinda funny that liking grapes would get you banned. Also, why did you have 4 accounts at the same time, I mean I can understand having a backup ready just in case yours gets hacked or something, but 4 seems like a lot. I wonder what happens when you get banned, as in how do you find out, does it say banned next to your posts, etc.
Maybe you should try posting more.
