If ever you’ve wanted to see a famous pop star not giving a s**t about performing after the sound goes wrong (and it was miming not live) then here is the ultimate deluded Diva – Mariah ‘why sing a note normally when you can make it make last for 76 minutes” Carey.

A very important announcement: In the last couple of hours at some stage, @Ron Nasty overtook trcanberra on the most posted leader board. Not really sure where to put this, but I can’t derail this thread, so my logic stands.
Yes, and @Necko went zooming by not too long ago as well @The Hole Got Fixed.
HKL must be keeping me busy 😉

What happened to those people anyways.
Last I saw, they were adrift somewhere on the pacific ocean on a raft with one mint condition A Hard Day’s Night record to share.

I came up with an amazing term that I want to become common use. So similar to how TV shows can jump the shark, musical artists can be Free Birded into songs or works.
So the term applies to when a musical artist has passed, however they have music that is being released as new. It’s like how Free As A Bird (where the term comes from) was a new Beatles song that was released in 1995 with John singing lead, despite him dying in 1980.
Another example is the two Micheal Jackson albums released after his death.
What do you guys think? Is it a genius term that should be added to everyone’s vocabulary, or is it an ehh idea that came from my lying in bed thoughts?

Passed? Passed wind? Passed you? I do not comprehend what you are saying. Based on context, do you mean ‘died’?

I apologize, I thought that was clear. I do mean dead, but I was trying to be respectful.

Thanks for clearing that up.
But tell me, @William Shears Campbell: what is disrespectful to the dead about saying someone ‘died’, and why is ‘passed’ better?
Honestly when I was writing it, “passed” sounded better than “died”.

Fair enough.
Back on topic…
I love your saying. It’s just a shame that such a small percentage of the population would understand, as not many have heard Free As A Bird .

I must be young. I don’t know jump the shark.
There’s an inch of snow on the ground outside. Wonder if I will be able to drive to work or if Ohhh Boy will have to take me in his 4-wheel drive pickup truck.

“Jump the Shark”, @Ahhh Girl, comes from something you are definitely not too young to remember. It’s a term that refers to when a TV series (or, more widely, other serial entertainments) has run out of ideas and just comes up with something as stupid as…
…leaving a nasty little stain that you just can’t wash out.

Gonna pop in and say, I disagree. Some people are atheists and don’t pass on to anything. Euphemisms for death is a huge pet peeve for me.
Everyone dies. Not everyone passes.

I regularly use the word “passed” but I do not use it to suggest somebody is moving on to an afterlife, just that somebody who was once a part of this world no longer is.
A lot of people used the word “passed” with no religious/afterlife beliefs to its use implied.
Since when was it written that by the use of the term “passed” to describe someone’s death you are indicting a belief in an afterlife or a god?
