ahdn_paul_06Plus, you don’t have to deal with all of the rotting bananas up here. The Rooftop is overrated.

@meanmistermustard  I think I remember you saying that you don’t have The Complete Calvin and Hobbes collection because it’s too expensive (apologies if I’m wrong) but this weekend Amazon have reduced it from £70 to £28 if you’re interested in it as a Christmas gift for yourself.

Just thought I’d let you know!

I thought I’d make a poll to see what answers I can get, let’s see what decade you grew up in:

[sp_show_poll id=”142″]

For me, I was born in 1967, so I grew up in the 1970’s.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Ahhh Girl, that’s a hard question, I was thinking of it was what decade do you most associate yourself with nostalgia wise, so you could do 4-10, 10-18, or both if it lets you, you decide.

Maybe you should try posting more.

The 2000’s baby, the era of when pop music became sh*te. Although the majority of TV that I watched was 90’s based due to Ireland getting practically everything new from the States about 3-4 years after it actually came out >.>

I didn’t have Nickelodeon or Disney either so I was reared on whatever the public broadcaster showed. So seeing as you didn’t give examples of 2000’s music and TV for sprats here goes:

Britney Spears

S Club 7/S Club 8

Eminem

Beyonce/Destiny’s Child

The Black Eyed Peas

Justin Timberlake

Coldplay

Shows (this covers show that started in the last 90’s but went through to the mid 2000’s at least):

Bear in the Big Blue House

Teletubbies

Spongebob Squarepants

As Told By Ginger

The Wild Thornberrys (Smashing)

Bob the Builder

The Powerpuff Girls

Even Stevens

CatDog

Ed, Edd, N Eddy

Johnny Bravo

Lizzie MacGuire

The Amanda Show

Drake & Josh

Zoey 101

And a plethora of others, the 00’s wasn’t bad for kids’ tv but the music- woeful, I tells ya, woeful!

I was ‘The A-Team’ and ‘Knight Rider’; early Saturday night ITV. ‘Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles’ (UK title as Ninja was not allowed) was immense as was ‘Dogtanian and The Three Muskehounds’ (check out the theme tune below – this was the time when credits were worth putting up with).

I was born in 1999 so I would say I grew up mostly in the 2000’s, although I am still technically growing up for another 2 months.

Music wise, my childhood was mostly filled with my parents music.  I grew up listening to

The Beatles

The Beach Boys

The Eagles

Elton John

Billy Joel

Michael Jackson(I got introduced to him after his death)

“Weird Al Yankovic (I got introduced to him through his Micheal Jackson parodies not long after I got introduced to MJ)

I also grew up with my dad’s dislike for most music after the 80’s

You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but did you vote because you’re implying you were born from 1974-1976 and grew up in the 1980’s/1990’s, yet there are no votes for either.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Oh God yeah my brothers and I used to watch TMHT (I refuse to sing the ‘Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles’, it’s always ‘Hero’ dammit!)

I was such a lad as a kid, watched everything the brothers did- Yu Gi Oh (I have my own killer deck along with all the Egyptian Gods- bow down to me peasants 😉 ), Digimon, Beyblade, (I once broke a friend of mine’s Beyblade and he actually cried, sorry about that mate), Thomas and Friends when I was about 5, which was probably my introduction to Ringo, although I think I preferred Michael Angelis as a narrator (sorry Ringo), and I used to watch like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, James Bond whatever, when it was on the telly.

It’s a wonder with all the anime that I watched as a kid, why I don’t watch it now but eh there you go.

Oh yes I just reminded myself of He-Man and She-Ra, such campy television at 8am, I loved it.

Also a special mention to The Animals of Farthing Wood which always aired ridiculously early at like 6am but is probably one of the most gruesome children’s shows ever!

I’m kind of split a little between 2000’s/2010’s, but I’d say 2000’s makes a little more sense to me.

I never really used to like music that much and paid it nearly no mind before I fell in love with The Beatles, but I liked hearing the odd Green Day song on the radio. With that in mind, I could say that I grew up and still am growing up with classic rock; not really much of anything else.

As for TV, I saw Spongebob Squarepants and all of those 2000’s shows of course, but I fondly remember watching Teletoon Retro quite a lot; enough for it to be my favourite channel. I was really peeved by there being so much Looney Tunes everyday (you can only take so much Bugs Bunny in one afternoon ahdn_paul_01), but I found some of my favourite shows by watching that channel. Most notably Fraggle Rock, which has to be up there in my top 5 favourite of all time. a-hard-days-night-george-9 Sadly, ‘Retro is no more. paul-mccartney

No they aren’t.  My mom really likes  Bon Jovi, but I didn’t start listening to that until after elementary school.
