Pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to get away with it again, but getting banned from this site doesn’t really appeal to me anymore anywaysa-hard-days-night-paul-11

I was part of a forum once that was based on shorting stocks. These 2 members were constantly arguing with each other (sometimes for 50 posts in one thread) and writing really derogatory (read nasty) things about the other one. After a few years “their” angry wife was getting even for something and posted that it was just one sad man fighting with himself. After that he/they disappeared from the site.

Hi @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<. If you get some sigh butterly vibes today, it may be because I have many cousins and nephews/nieces visiting the Netherlands this week. Yesterday they were in a town called Giethoorn, which apparently has no cars (since there aren’t any roads 🙂 ) They said floating around the town was like being in a fairy tale.

Congratulations to the Villanova University Men’s Basketball Team for claiming the NCAA Championship last night. Since my beloved Orange of Syracuse U. was eliminated on Saturday, I was rooting for the local boys* to take home the crown.

For those who did not see it, North Carolina tied the game at 74 with 4.7 seconds left on the game clock. On the ensuing possession, Villanova ran the ball up the court and won the game on a buzzer beating shot. It is already being hailed as one of the best college basketball championships games ever. I could not agree more.

“V” for Villanova, “V” for Victory!

Oh yes, Giethoorn is lovely. And it’s true, everyone does everything by boat. There’s a really cool (albeit antwacky) film, made in 1958, called ‘Fanfare’ which is situated in Giethoorn, though it has a fictional name in the film. The film is about the goings-on of the village, and everything revolves around the local marching band. Very vintage. I don’t think it’s available anywhere, not with subtitles anyway, but it’s really fun.

Awesome, thanks so much @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<. I can’t wait to check it out. They’re all heading off on a long river cruise in a few days. I bet they would get a kick out of watching this after just visiting there. apple01

Subtitles come on automatically. Click on the cc icon (first icon on the bottom right of the video) to turn them off. Thought that was Oliver Hardy upon first glance.

This was allowed to go on for years!

And why on earth does anyone want to have a pretend conversation/argument with themselves online?

Believe it or not, I’ve actually also been on a forum where someone has done just that. They joined, created four or five accounts, and pretended each of them hated all the others. He went back and forth with insults and rude language. I have no idea why someone would do that. Boredom, I guess. Anyway, four out of five accounts were banned within two days.
